Adler’s POV

I searched the internet, finding every piece of information I could find on (U.N) and the girl behind it. There wasn’t much, but I studied hard on what I did find. She seemed absolutely perfect. I couldn’t wait to see her again.

I sat impatiently on my 3D avatar stand in Dad’s office. I knew the average human needed an hour to eat, and then eight hours to sleep, so I would give her ten hours, just in case. I did my research on teenage girls.

Apparently they are moody and unpredictable. I had no idea. Did she have any idea she was as emotionally unstable as a nuclear reactor? Perhaps she didn’t. I decided it would be best to stay on her good side.

No POV

Edwin and Y.N sat in silence, eating their cold sandwiches and cokes. There was little to discuss, but Y.N had a topic she wanted to inform Edwin of.

“So,” she said between bites of her turkey and swiss. It was all they had. “I met someone today.”

Edwin glanced at her over the top of his glasses at his feminine companion.

“In Vesity?” Y.N rolled her eyes.

“No, in the IRL. Of course in Vesity.” Edwin rolled his eyes at her sarcasm, but felt a smirk tug at his lips.

“Who was so interesting that you felt the need to bring them up during dinner?” Edwin took another bite of his turkey and swiss.

“What was his name?” Y.N asked herself. “Oh… um… Adele? Aldies? Aaron? Oh! Adler!” Edwin raised an eyebrow.

“That’s, um… an unusual name.” Y.N laughed gently. Edwin smiled wider at his companion, who didn’t stop laughing. Her contagious laugh made him also begin to laugh, and eventually the two were in tears in an attempt to not look at the other.

Both failed and the laughter continued. Finally, they silenced and Y.N continued her statement.

“Anyway, Adler was nice, I guess. His voice was different, though. It didn’t sound like they usually do.” Edwin raised an eyebrow.

“How so?”

“His voice was… clear. Like he was sitting right next to me. It was just so… weird. Ya know?” Edwin nodded, trying to come up with an explanation.

“Maybe he has some new tech. You know, trying it out.” Y.N nodded in agreement. That was most likely the answer.

“Oh well. We’re gonna meet again tomorrow. Wanna come?” Edwin shrugged.

“Meh. Why not?” Y.N smiled at his answer and stood up. Her plate was empty and she was on the final drips of her coke. She downed it once more and stretched, yawning wildly. Edwin smiled at her tiredness and cleared the paper plates and empty red cans.

“You should go to bed,” he commented. Y.N rolled her eyes and wobbled towards the door. There was shouting from next door as Y.N’s mother began screaming swear words because of something that happened in Vesity.

Y.N physically cringed, and Edwin saw this.

“Wanna spend the night here?” Y.N nodded without hesitation.

The two got changed into sleep wear. Edwin wore a pair of plaid pajama pants and no shirt. Y.N donned a pair of Edwin’s sweatpants and a tank top she wore under her sweatshirt. The two laid on the queen sized bed in Edwin’s bedroom.

Edwin’s arm snaked around Y.N’s waist, holding her close to his chest. With the even rising and falling of her chest, he held the (h.c) haired girl as close as he could without completely absorbing her. This, of course, was due to the lack of heating in the apartment.

But maybe, just maybe, it meant something a little more to Edwin James.

Y.N’s POV

I awoke in Ed’s bed, as I had grown used to. His arm was slung over my body, his face buried in the crook of my neck. His warm breath danced on my skin, a welcome to the morning.

As I had many times before, I slipped out of his grasp and went to a white board nailed to the wall. A dying orange marker was taped to the wall, hopelessly hanging from a single strand of fuzz covered tape. I wrote him a message, saying I was going to get an early start in Vesity and I would meet him in the Grand Theater.

I left the flat before he woke up, retreating into my own apartment. I took a shower, allowing the warm water to wash over my body. It was serene, as though the water cleared away any sin or chaos of the world. After I was cleaned and dried, I logged into Vesity, awaking in the pod I had left in. A boy with green hair and skin sat at the railing, looking over the city. His legs dangled over the edge of a lofty drop. It was as if he had been waiting for me.
