Adler’s POV

I reappeared on my stand after the door closed behind Dad.

“Who was that?” I asked.

“That, Adler, was my boss,” Dad responded, sounding rather tired.

“What’s the psychopath virus? Does…. Does it have something to do with me?” He shook his head.

“No, some IRLers sent a virus into Vesity to try and shut it down, but it backfired. The virus was supposed to kick people out of Vesity, but it’s been downloading them in.” I felt my heart skip a beat. There was a way to make someone part of Vesity?

“Are they okay?” He shook his head.

“The download has some issues, and the people have been dying. I’m supposed to figure out where this is and destroy it. I’m sorry, Adler. Your body is gonna have to wait another day.”

“I’ll be okay, Dad!” I responded. “Maybe I can help! I can search through Vesity and find the virus!” Dad smiled at me.

“Okay! Father son team work! Let’s go!”

I disappeared as he began typing to search every strand of code in Vesity for the virus. I had to find it first. Maybe if I could take it and edit it, I could download Y.N, then shut down all entrances into Vesity.

We’d be alone, finally! We’d have all of Vesity to ourselves! It would be perfect! I just needed to find the damn virus.

Y.N’s POV (time skip)

I sat on the edge of Edwin’s bed. I hadn’t left the apartment in nearly two days. I hadn’t logged into Vesity, I hadn’t eaten, I hadn’t done anything. I laid on Edwin’s bed, trying to imagine him laying behind me, snuggling up close.

It was as though I had forgotten what he felt like.

I cried most of the time. I sobbed loudly, you could hear me in other parts of the apartment building. I didn’t see anyone. My mother didn’t know where I was. I don’t think she cared.

Edwin’s parents didn’t know he was dead, and if they did, they hadn’t come to get anything. They hadn’t come. No one came. I was alone in the IRL. I didn’t dare go to Vesity. I would be faced with people asking me where MadLad463 went.

I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and nothing to see. Life was pointless.

I knew I had to move on. Life had to move on. Edwin wouldn’t want me doing this, wading in a pool of misery.

It was the third day. I felt weak. I could barely move. My body rumbled with the pain of not eating. I decided I had to eat, or else I would die. Nobody would come looking for me if I did. I didn’t want to be the second person to die in this apartment.

I went to the kitchen and turned on a light. It flickered, clearly to the point of nearly burning out. Everything around me was dying. It was cold. I opened the refrigerator. The light didn’t turn on. Everything smelled rotten.

I closed the fridge and ran to the bathroom, heaving absolutely nothing into the toilet. My body was empty. There was nothing to throw up. There was nothing to eat. There was nothing.

Then there was something.

A knock at the door.

I perked up from my place, draped over the side of the toilet, and approached the door. My body swayed. I could barely walk straight. I got to the door and opened it. I looked up at the person, who was maybe five inches taller than me.

He had electric green hair that was messy, but not uncontrollable. His eyes were a darker, but still bright, green, and his skin was extremely pale. Everyone was extremely pale, but his skin was so pale it was nearly blue, maybe green, but not unnaturally.

“Hey, Y.N,” he said, his dorky smile on his face. As soon as I heard his voice, I was shocked.

“Adler?” I asked. He nodded. Then I passed out.

No POV

“SHIT!” exclaimed Adler as Y.N swooned. He had traveled to Y.N’s apartment buildng after his body was done and everything was in place. Now he held her in his arms. She was a little thinner than her avatar, but she looked the same anyway.

There was a loud rumble, telling Adler that she had not eaten. As her unconscious form laid in his arm, covered by a sweatshirt, he reached out a hand, ever so hesitantly, to touch her skin.

His finger bounced against her (s.c) skin. It looked exactly how he had imagined. But now he felt like screaming, crying, something.

He couldn’t feel her
