It was already thirty minutes until midnight. Wow, time sure passes fast! Dad, Undyne, and Papyrus were still working on getting the fireworks to light. I really hope they're able to get it by midnight or that won't be good! But seeing how the progress is going now, they probably won't make it in time.
With that out of the way, I told Chara that the view from the top of the mountain was beautiful! And it was! Down in the city, it's hard to see the stars because of all the city lights; when you get on top of the mountain, above the city lights, you can see the beautiful starry sky clearly. That's what I told her but there was even more than that. The city lights from below are very pretty as well and sometimes in the forest of the mountain, there will be fireflies lighting up the place. Since the crew decided to come down here to fix the rocket fireworks, I thought it was the perfect time to bring Chara up there. "Chara, come on!" I whispered to her as I got up and scurried off of the blanket. "Over here" I whispered to her again. She looked at me a bit confused but soon realized what I was doing and followed me excitedly.
"Here we are!" I announced proudly, holding out my arm. She gasped from the sight and just looked at the sky in awe. It stayed like this for a while, her looking in absolute awe. Then she turned to me with tears in her eyes. It seemed like I was the only one she felt comfortable crying around.
"I forgot...how beautiful the world was" she admitted softly "I was raised on the bad side of it all, I...I had no idea".
"I did," I told her, now facing her.
"...What?"
"Yeah, Chara, I didn't have a normal childhood either but, well, you-" I went up to her and put my paw on her back waist and lifted her chin up to meet my gaze "you, Chara, reminded me of the beautiful things I had to enjoy in this life, so, thank you, Chara! Thank you so much!" these were my last words before I pulled her into a hug. Chara hugged back as she gave a sad scoff.
"How could I remind you of the beauty in the world, as I said before, I come from a place of no beauty," she questioned me. She really didn't understand.
"No place of beauty except yourself" I corrected "those experience made you who you are today, a strong, clever, determined girl...and my best friend...". I didn't lie about or exaggerate anything that I told her. I meant it all.
"Thank you...Azzy" she pulled away and gave me a tired smile before turning back to the sky. "You can see the milky way from here" Chara briefly pointed out.
"The...what?" the name sounded familiar but I didn't know what 'the milky way' was. I still had a lot to learn about human things.
"The milky way!" Chara pointed out an area of the stars that looked similar to a line. "That's the rest of our galaxy, at least I think is, I don't do science" Chara laughed sheepishly. I didn't know a lot of what Chara told me but I don't wanna ask—I'll ask later!
After a while of taking in the beautiful sight, we heard something behind us. Both I and Chara turned around at the same time, only to see Frisk with Sans' arm around her waist. She greeted us with a 'hiya' and told us that she and Sans wanted to join us. I couldn't do that to them; this is the kinda stuff they need to do alone. I looked at Chara and she nodded her head in understanding. I told Frisk that it's probably for the best that I and Chara leave and that midnight is coming here real soon. That's when we walked past both of the confused faces that they wore and walked right back down the mountain.
When I and Chara finally sat down, Mom noticed. "Ah, Son, I was wondering where everyone went!". I chuckled at her overprotective Mom gears going off. Toriel was starting to unpack the apple cider and wine cups she got everyone to drink at midnight and started to fill the cups up.
"Don't worry, Mom, everyone is fine".
It was exactly fifty seconds now until midnight and Frisk and Sans weren't back yet. I was starting to get a little worried; if they didn't get back soon, they would completely miss the countdown! They were probably so distracted by one another that they didn't realize how close midnight actually was.
Here it came, the countdown:
Ten, nine- The crew still couldn't get the fireworks to start. They better hurry up.
Eight, seven- Frisk and Sans aren't here and are gonna miss the countdown; oh well. They're enjoying themselves and that's more important than this.
Six, five- They still haven't gotten it right but are still trying...
Four- THEY GOT IT! One of the firework rockets started sparking! Everyone started cheering, even Mom!
Three- The rocket shot off.
Two- It's almost there.
ONE- KABOOM!! Undyne picked up her fiancée and kissed her right smack dab in the lover's spot; that's right, on the lips! Pretty orange and yellow lights surrounded the sky, along with lots of other colors. Everyone cheered: HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!! Everyone took a toast to the new year before chugging down the cider. To bad Frisk and Sans weren't here for this...
After the fireworks calmed down a bit and just became a show, that's when Undyne finally stopped kissing Alphys, grinning like a baby monkey. Alphys, on the other hand, was blushing like an anime girl (yes I watch anime and I don't care what anyone says to me); I could see their relationship as elderly women and Alphys still blushes at everything Undyne does.
All that I could think of now is how Frisk and Sans missed all this. All I was thinking was:
What are they doing?
(A\N: Oof, another short one! We are getting near to the end! Yay...or...no yay...
This chapter was really fun to write, the more I write about Asriel's and Chara's relationship, the more I appreciate it. Goodbye, my little reed blossoms; have a BReasy day!!♪~ ᕕ(ᐛ)ᕗ).
