Important A/N:
It's been a very long time since I've written and I am very sorry. I was dealing with some very personal issues and the death of a family member. I just needed some time to deal. I am back now! I do not know how frequent updates will be, but I know I will try my best. Thank you for your patience and thank you to the couple of people who have been concerned enough to message me; I am okay. Anyways... here's the next chapter :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What Happened In the last chapter:
Ryan won his soccer game, and James and Ryan almost got caught kind of snuggling while watching a movie. Ryan's mom asked James to stay for dinner.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Time Jump: 1 month into the school year
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~With homecoming just around the corner, the whole school is a mad house. Some people are rushing around looking for dates, others are looking for the perfect decorations to go up in the gym for the dance. Me? I'm just trying to figure out if I have to go. Ryan asked Amy to go to the dance with him and I have yet to ask anyone so is it worth it?
Ryan tells me I have to go if he has to go. But the difference between him and me is that he has a responsibility to his date; I don't. Plus I don't want to deal with the whole buying clothes to go to a dance I don't even want to be at.
Plus I'm still confused about everything. From things with Ryan to where I want to go to college: everything is changing, and I'm having a hard time keeping up.
Ryan seems to have forgotten about everything we had done a month ago. He is always with Amy now. All he seems to want to do is talk to her and flirt with her and kiss her. It makes me sick. It's like what we did meant absolutely nothing to him.
I want to forget everything too. I just... I just can't. With this town that we live in and the things that we did, I just can't shake this feeling of panic that has engulfed me. I know that nobody saw anything, but I can't shake the feeling that everyone knows. I can't shake the feelings that I had gotten for Ryan either.My sister has started to notice that there is something wrong with me. She keeps asking me to talk to her. I just can't. I know she cares about me, but if she knew why I've been off lately she'd be so angry.
"Earth to James!" Lucas says while waving his hand in front of my face.
"Huh? What?" I respond being pulled out of my daze.
"Have you decided who you're asking to the dance? I heard from a little birdie that Lauren Murphy has her heart set on you asking her."
"Lauren Murphy? The head cheerleader?" I say a bit shocked.
Lucas nods and I look over to Lauren's table. She's a nice looking girl. She has curly blonde hair and striking blue eyes. At school, she only wears hoodies and leggings, but she was still the most strikingly beautiful girl in the whole school.
"Go make your move!" Lucas says as he basically pushes me out of my seat.
Ryan looks up from his conversation with Amy as he sees me stumble. I give him one glance as I see him with Amy and set my jaw. Maybe I do want to go to the dance after all.
I walk over to Lauren's table and tap her on the shoulder. Her pony tail flips as she turns her head to look at me.
"Hey James! What's up?" She says with the same sweet tone and smile she always has.
"Hey Lauren.... can I talk to you for a second... alone?" I ask.
A slight blush creeps onto her pale cheeks, "Um... yeah!"
