I sit in silence with Rosie as I drive her back to her house. She tries to break the silence a few times, but most of her attempts are fruitless.

"Congrats on getting king!" She says to me.

"Thank you," I mumble back to her.

When I pull up to her house, she doesn't get out immediately.

"You okay?" I ask her.

She doesn't answer me for a few seconds before she says something strange.
"I don't like Lauren. What do you think of her?"

I pause before I answer. I have to think very carefully, "She seems like a very nice girl. I think her and James like each other, so it really isn't my business I guess."

"But do you like her?"

"Like I said before-"

"Yes or no Ryan. Do you approve of the relationship between her and James or not?"

"....no." I reply quietly, "They don't seem right for each other."

"That is exactly what I think. This stays between us. She is really controlling apparently when she is in a relationship and I am worried about James being with her. I know it is none of our business, but I think we both need to keep an eye on him okay? Can you help me do that?"

I nod. She nods back at me and opens the door stepping out of my car. I drive home and see my mom's car is gone again. She must be working the night shift again. I guess it's just me and my laptop tonight...

A few hours of watching The Walking Dead later, I get a text from Rosie.

"Hey you need to call James. Something happened with Lauren tonight and he talked to me about it, but I think he would feel better talking to you about it."

I pause my show and call James. It rings a few times before he answers.

"Hello?" I hear him say from the other end.

"Hey! How was pizza with Lauren?" I ask trying to sound normal.

He pauses and waits for a bit before answering, "Honestly terrible dude. I don't even know where to begin."

"Well try starting from the beginning; how was pizza? Was it good?"

He chuckles, "Yeah; the pizza was great. I wish I could have watched the movie though."

"Why couldn't you watch the movie?"

"Dude she tried to have sex with me?"

My stomach lurches a bit, "Tried?" I asked.

"I....I stopped her before things got very far. It was basically her just making out with my neck and sucking on it before she unbuttoned my pants and.... you know... tried to get me.... excited?"

I suck in a soft breath, "Why did you stop her? Most guys would have been jumping at the idea of having sex with the homecoming queen and the head cheerleader."

"I didn't want it. I felt.... weird. I just wanted her to stop the entire time. As soon as she started, I wanted to push her away. Rosie said I'm probably just not ready, but I'm not sure you know?"

I think carefully before I respond, "Maybe it just wasn't the right day. Maybe if you had done it a different day when you didn't just lose a game or after you ran around the field 8 times you would have felt differently?"

"Yeah maybe. I don't know. What would you have done?" He questions.

"I don't know. I personally don't think I would have had sex with her. I don't think I'm ready for that.."
