"D-████... Please step towards the desk." You heard over the speaker.
Your legs began shaking beneath you, as your stomach seemed to churn. You cautiously walk over to the wooden desk in front of you.
"Open the folder to your left." The scientist over the speaker demanded.
With trembling hands, you shakily open the folder and remove a series of images, and symbols. You didn't know what that thing in the picture was... although it looked vaguely humanoid in nature. You looked upwards at the scientists watching you, wondering what may be going on in their heads. Why weren't they talking about the experiment, like normal?
"You will find a mechanical pencil and an eraser to your right. Pick it up, and to your best ability, interpret and write down what you think the symbols mean."
You swallowed the saliva built up in your throat from the prolonged silence. You instantaneously began to feel nauseous, the second you picked up the pencil. You knew something wasn't right.
You glanced at the image for a moment, and carefully observed it. The thing in the picture appeared to be some creature of a sort, though you didn't recognize it in any way. It looked to be around eight to nine feet tall, much taller than an average human. Although it shared very little physical similarities with a human in general, it had a vaguely humanoid body. It seemed to have a black substance of some sort hanging from its body, while also being completely blanketed in the substance. Looking at it from a distance, they gave the appearance of long, black strands of confetti, or a cheap Christmas garland. The hanging ones seemed to look like long, sticky tendrils.
You proceeded to write down what you regarded as useful information to the Foundation. You took another look, this time a bit deeper into the strange symbols in the document. Why wasn't this one written like all the other ones?
You saw a symbol that you assumed was supposed to symbolize that it was a keter level SCP, along with another symbol that you also assumed was supposed to mean "Special Containment Procedures". You continued slowly looking through the pictures and symbols, being careful not to miss one that may give crucial information.
The pictures seemed to depict that only symbols of this SCP were allowed, and not verbally spoken information, or written data. It didn't matter if it was written via pen and paper, or via an electronic device. You stopped dead in your tracks, and dropped the pen onto the table. It made a small noise, which startled you. You called for the scientists to help you, but nobody responded. You swallowed your fear, and continued interpreting the different symbols. You only got three seconds into it before the lights above you started flickering. You abruptly realized why spoken or written data wasn't allowed.
It collects information about itself, yet is unable to interpret symbols and pictograms. You had just invited him into the cell you were standing in.
You started panicking, sweating and shaking. You didn't want this. You couldn't die right now!
You began banging on the walls, desperately pleading to be let out, before something happens, but nothing happened. You continued pounding on the metal wall until your fists bruised and blistered. Your pleas for help turned into screams of anger and rage, as tears streamed down your face. You were doing to die...
For a moment, you saw a bright light.
Frightening, blinding...
You were scared.
"How did this happen?" you thought. "What have I done to deserve this fate?"
You fought to remember what had happened before this encounter; what may be your final moments in this feeble body. The air around you became harder to breathe, as your lungs tightened and contracted from the pressure.
They only listened. What were they waiting for?!
Tears swelled up in your eyes, as you were forced to watch the people who promised to take care of you leave you to die. The sweet sensation of sadness may be the last thing you would feel, so you cherished it. However, the tears streaming down your face felt as though they were never going to dry.
You tried your hardest to stay calm, but your instincts told you to run. You thought you were going to die.
You hid securely under a table. Never before had you seen a creature of such mystery, yet so much danger lurking within... You could tell. You felt your hands trembling nervously, as you lost your grip onto the table legs. You struggled to keep your mind on task. For a reason you couldn't understand, you could only focus on that creature swaying around the room. It wasn't fear that kept her frozen in place; it was something different. Something about it made you feel... calm. It captivated you.
You watch as it slowly walked up to your papers. It lowered its head, as if to read them. For a split second, you almost thought you saw a sliver of a smile on its face as it read your writing. Several long tendrils appeared from behind, and wrapped themselves around your papers. It held them close to its chest, like a familiar childhood toy... perhaps it had taken a liking to what you had to say about it.
As it turned around, you felt the pressure in your lungs disappear. You exhale, and lay down on the floor. You pressed your hands against your chest, and felt your heart beating. You thought it may have been from the pure terror you felt, watching it look in your direction. Your mind struggled to understand what you were feeling at that moment, as you did too. You felt the fear in your chest, along with trembling hands and beads of sweat dripping down your face... yet a mysterious part of you... wanted to see it again.
You understood it was irrational. However, you couldn't remember any other fraction of happiness in this sorrowful place. You couldn't resist the powerful urge overcoming you in that moment.
As the creature turned towards the wall, you jumped out from under the table.
"Hey, W-Wait!"
The creature reared its head towards you, looking you in the eye.
"What... What are you?"
You looked back towards it, fear showing in your face. You were hoping to get a sort of answer from the mysterious creature; however, a part of you knew exactly what was going to happen. You swallowed.
Its tendrils protruded from its back and sides, reaching out for you. Your instincts told you to run away, but you suddenly felt... warm. As they wrapped around you, you fell back onto the creature. It delightfully held you in its arms, and wrapped one of its tendrils around your waist.
You felt its tendrils wrap around your stomach, andyour legs. For a moment, you felt fear... but then you felt something soft andwet in the palm of your hand. You looked down to see that one of the tendrils had been placed in your hand, almost to comfort you. You looked up at the creature, and it looked back at you. Its expression seemed... loving.
The both of you soon vanished through the wall, unseen by the scientists. Finally... You were free.
