You were awoken by a loud thud, followed by a shriek not too far in the distance. Looking around you, you could see that Tiberius wasn't in the cave with you anymore.
You shifted your expression to one of confusion.
If it hadn't been for that sudden shriek, you'd think that he'd gone or to find something.. but instead, you stood up from where you were laying, and peeked over the edge of the cave.
Peering over the snow-showered trees, you saw a man slowly get up from where he stood, and rub the back of his head.
He had dark brown curly hair, with fair skin and dark, leafy eyes. He wore a lab coat with a badge, the readings unintelligible from the height.
You also saw that he wore a golden amulet, with a large ruby imbedded inside it. He clutched it in his hands, presumably to make sure it was okay.
Looking a bit to the left, you saw Tiberius with him. Simply standing, and observing the man. The man with the dark hair looked disgruntled, and confused.. he stood up, and looked up at Tiberius.
"What the hell are you..?" He spoke, his voice quivering.
You pulled yourself closer to the ground, as not to be spotted.
"A child of the scarlet king?" He inquired. "Some.. THING designed to torture us?"
You furrowed your brows and snarled. A THING?!
You were going to give him a piece of your god damned mind.
You leaped over the edge, sliding down the side of the mountain, reaching the bottom, the man looked over at you.
"Some.. thing?!" You asked angrily. "You call him a thing..?"
The man looked up at Tibe, than back at you.
"You're the D-class that we sent in to talk about 2521.." he said, smiling. He looked back at you hopefully.
"You know more about this guy than anyone.. You could help us escape!" He said excitedly.
"Hold up, who said that I wanted to leave?!" You responded sassily. "Your foundation locked me up! Tortured me.."
You glared at him.
"Why should we trust you?!"
The man looked guilty. You saw pity in his eyes, looking at you.
"I don't know what they did to you.." he said.
"They say they take people from death row.. people who deserved to die." He began. "But that doesn't make any sense. And, I'm sorry for what they did to you."
You sighed, glaring at the cold, hard ground.
"My name's (Y/N). I'm.. sorry for the rude introduction. What's yours?" You asked, still glaring at the man.
"Dr. Bright. Well, Jack Bright.." he said, fumbling on his words.
You looked at the amulet around his neck, examining it curiously.
"What's this?" You asked, pointing at it.
Dr. Bright looked nervous. "SCP-963.. it's basically my soul." He laughed.
"Your soul, huh?" You said, reaching to touch it. He yanked it away, a panicked expression on his face.
"(Y/N), don't!" He yelled. "If you touch it, my consciousness will be transferred to you. You'll suffer an instant brain death!"
You raised a brow, your (E/C) eyes glimpsing up at his worried expression.
"You really do care.. don't you?" You asked, crossing your arms.
You saw fright in his eyes for a moment, before he regained his composure once again.
"Yes, well.. who is this?" He asked, gesturing to Tiberius. You sighed, slapping your palm against your face.
"This is Tiberius. He's with me, you know.." you trailed off anxiously.
Dr. Bright nodded. "I never knew this creature was capable of having.. romantic, or sexual feelings."
Your face flushed a deep red as you tried your best to explain yourself.
"Bright, th-that's not what I meant..!" You stammered, hopelessly. Tiberius wrapped one of his appendages around your waist, sending a small shiver up your spine.
"I mean, we are um.. together." You admitted, your rosy cheeks heating up. Bright looked astounded, as if he had just seen Icarus, or a leprechaun of some sort. You cocked your head.
Dr. Bright spoke up.
"I never knew Tiberius could feel.." he said. "The rest of the level 4's and the 05's thought he was just pre-programmed to collect information and data. We never knew that.." he trailed off.
"That.." he looked remorseful, almost. You placed a hand on his shoulder.
"How did you get here? And why?" You asked, curious. Bright exhaled roughly, and made eye contact.
"I'd prefer not to talk about it, ma'am. The foundation is.. a horrific place sometimes." He said, anxious. You decided not to push him, and let him speak when he was comfortable.
"Stay with Tibe and us." You said, smiling.
"What?!" Dr. Bright exclaimed, looking quite astonished once again.
"Until you find your way home, you can stay with us. We're okay with it!" You said, trying your best to sound friendly.
"Okay.. thank you for your kindness, ma'am." He said, grateful.
You giggled softly in response, and placed your hands on your hips. "No need for formalities, Jack. (Y/N), remember?" You asked.
He smiled back at Tiberius, and then turned around to look at you once again.
"Right."
"Come on," you added, holding on of Tiberius' tendrils. "We'll show you about Tibe's heritage!"
Jack cocked his head in response. He crossed his arms and chuckled lightly.
"His heritage?" He asked.
You looked back at him, nodding.
"I found it my second night here. Went exploring, and I found out so much interesting stuff about him.." you replied excitedly.
"That's how I found out what his name was!" You added. Jack looked a little shook, almost. Possibly from the new surroundings, you thought.
Jack smiled. "Back at the foundation, we had a little nickname for him. Well.. kind of."
You felt your heart jump in your chest. You didn't know why, but you were really excited to learn of what the foundation called him.
"We couldn't say it in conversation of course, but we used to address him by holding up a photo of a specific flower." He smiled, pulling something out of his pocket.
It was a photo of a yellow daffodil, in a patch of warm grass. You didn't quite understand, but smiled nonetheless.
"A daffodil?" You asked, crossing your arms.
"Well, yes.. but actually, no." He replied.
You examined the photo, admiring the little plant. What are other names for the daffodil..?
"Narcissus."
"What?" You queried.
"Narcissus. It's another name for a Daffodil.." he explained.
"Oh! Like the Greek mythology of Narcissus?" You asked excitedly.
"Yes, actually. I'm surprised you understand.."
You placed your hands in your pockets, and continued speaking.
"We have a couple of things about Greek mythology in Tiberius' history." You added.
Tiberius made a gurgling sound, which you had become familiar with. It meant "yes", or at least something similar to it..
"We shouldn't waste any time then." Jack replied. "Let's get going!"
