Chapter 4: Meeting the Crew

"Vallery Manson. Nice name." He chuckles while walking.

"It's not like Ash Ketchum is any better." I snap back at him.

"Well Vallery Manson, tell me, how old are you?"

"Well Ash Ketchum, I just turned 17, I started my journey today in fact."

"Oh cool! Your a little late to start though.."

"Does it matter?" This went on for the next half an hour, and we walked to ash's camp. "Ash wait! My stuff is still back at my little camp thing."

"We have an extra tent and things, you can use those." I nod and we enter this big patch of grass that has a lot of pokemon running around in it.

"Hey, can Finn play?"

"Is Finn your jolteon? Sure go ahead." I motion for Finn to go play while Ash and I go and sit down at a white table.

Sitting there is a redheaded girl, and a brown haired guy. I think the redhead is the same girl who was on tv too. Misty is her name.

"Hey everyone! I'm back and I've brought a friend!" Everyone turns around and looks at me. The girl seems intimidating. The guy seems nice. "Oh and her name is Vallery."

"Hi Vallery!" The guy says. "The name's Brock." I wave to him while misty just keeps staring at me. Weird.

"Um ash, should I just put my stuff in this tent or-"

"That's fine."

"Okay." I make my way over to the black and red tent. I set my bag down, grab the pillow that's on the ground, and put it somewhere where I can sleep on it.

"OH MY GOD A JOLTEON!" Misty says, and she runs at Finn.

"MISTY NO!" I try to yell but it's to late. Finn gets scared and uses thunderbolt on her. She falls to the ground and looks burnt to a crisp. I run to her.

"Misty are you ok? Oh my goodness I'm so sorry, Finn is scared so easily!"

"I'm fine." She says as she pushes me off of her. She walks to her tent. I try to comfort Finn in the mean time. After I manage to calm him down, I fall asleep in my tent. Today, was a long day.

~next morning~

I wake up to the smell of, wait. Bacon? I jolt up and get out of my tent. I can see ash inhaling his breakfast, and misty reading a book. I also see Brock cooking. It smells divine. I walk over to the table and take a seat next to ash.

"Mmmmm smells good guys." Brock turns to me and gives me a smile. He sets a plate out in front of me filled with bacon and rice cakes. So healthy. I finish my meal in no time.

"So everyone. Where to next?" Says ash.

"I think we should let new girl decide." Says Brock.

"Wait I'm traveling with you all?"

"Of course!" Ash yells, accidentally throwing his fork in the grass.

"Well if I'm deciding, I think we should go to cerulean city. I want to challenge my first gym." Misty's jaw drops and she stares at me. Everyone else is staring at misty.

"What?" I ask.

"Oh nothing, Vallery. If you must know, I am the gym leader there. You'll have a tough fight." Misty says. And with that she gets up and gives her plate to Brock. She then heads to her tent and continues reading.

"Nice one. You've got her all agitated." Ash says while trying not to laugh.

"Is she always like this?" " No, but she's used to being the only girl here. Your competition." I just stare into the sky.

"Competition huh. Okay, I can work with that."
