Chapter 6: First Badge!

"Look everyone! I see it!" I yell as I'm running to the edge of the forest.

"Finally, I was just about to collapse." Ash says, wiping his forehead. We all enter the city. It's so beautiful! I make my way to the gym. It's all the way in the back of the city. The walk was well worth it. The gym kind of looked like a merry go round. It had a orange and pink striped top, and blue and white striped pillars holding the thing up. And on the building was a really big dewgong.

"Wow misty, this place is incredible! I can't believe you run this entire thing!"

"Yea yea, don't get all worked up. My sisters normally run it, but they're off "seeing the world."'

"Oh ok, well shall we get started?"

"Of course." We enter the gym. Misty gives us a grand tour, and at the end, we finally enter the arena. It's a big pool. Great.

"Well I sure hope my pokemon can swim..." I say, unsure of how this is gonna go.

"You better hope." Says misty. We each take a side of the arena. Ash and pikachu are off to the side cheering; while Brock is standing in the middle of us, acting as our referee.

"Alright Val, I'm supposed to use three pokemon, but since you only have two, and this is your first gym badge, and I know your going to be rusty, I'll use two. Is that ok Brock?"

"Well this is your gym, do whatever feels right. Oh, and shall we level the playing field?" Brock sends his onix out. "Onix use rock slide!" Onix crashes boulders into the pool, they're just big enough to stick out of the water.

"Oh wow, thanks!" I say, a little less uneasy about all of this.

"Thanks Brock, I'm going to have to clean all of this up you know." Brock rubs the back of his neck in embarrassment.

"Sorry Misty." She gives him a glare. "Let's just get this over with." She snaps. Brock clears his throat, and begins speaking.

"The battle between gym leader Misty, and challenger Vallery, will now begin. Each person in this case will use two pokemon. Only the challenger can make substitutes. The person who runs out of usable pokemon first will loose. Are you all ready?" I nod and so does misty. "Then let's begin."

"You can make the first move Misty." My mom taught me this when I was young. She said it's better to counter second then to risk attacking first.

"Very well. GO! Horsey!" She sends out horsey, who splashes into the water.

"GO! Belle!" I send out Belle, who takes shelter on land.

"Horsey! Use tackle on those boulders!" The horsey aims, and strikes the boulders, causing Belle to almost fall in.

"Belle, use vine whip to drag horsey out of the water! Do it quick!" She instantly grabs horsey and smashes him into one of the other boulders. Horsey struggles, but gets up, and slides back into the pool.

"Horsey, use bubble beam!" Horsey charges up, then fires and hits Belle straight in the face. Belle tumbles into the water, struggling to swim. All of a sudden belle does something interesting. She climbs up onto a rock as light starts pouring into the bulb on her back. It charges up. Then all of a sudden a beautiful beam of light erupts from her back, and hits horsey directly. Horsey smacks against the wall of the pool, and just floats there.

"Horsey is unable to battle, Bulbasaur wins!" I jump up and down, trying to contain myself.

"Oh hold on, I'm not done yet. GO! Starmie'" She throws her pokeball, but wait, a psyduck comes out?!

"Damnit! Why do I always do that?!"

"Well, theres no turning back now. And it looks like your buddy here can't swim either." I say. She gives me a glare. "Shall I go first? Belle, use vinewhip, and keep going!" She smacks psyduck on the head many times. I feel bad for the little guy, all he's doing is just standing there, holding his head. What's so special about him anyway? He's just a water pokemon.

"Oh you've made a mistake. Psyduck gets more powerful the more his head hurts. Psyduck! Use confusion!"

"What?!" I yell, and Psyduck's eyes turn a bright blue. Belle gets lifted up, and tossed and turned all over the place. All I can do is watch as she gets flung into the wall of the gym.

"Belle is unable to battle. Psyduck wins!" Misty smirks.

"Oh just you wait misty, this isn't over. GO! Finn!" I send Finn out. And he leaps onto the rock.

"Ok psyduck! Use confusion again!"

"Not this time, Finn dive under water!" Finn leaps just in time and dives into the pool. Hidden.

"Don't just stand there, go under water and use tackle!" I can see psyduck going under water. I'm finished. Finn could drown. Then I get an idea. Electricity spreads fast through water.

"FINN! USE THUNDERSHOCK QUICKLY!" I scream, hoping he'll hear me. I see the water light up. It looks terrifying yet beautiful at the same time. I see both of them surfacing. Finn is panting and psyduck is just floating there.

"Psyduck is unable to battle, which means the challenger, Vallery Manson, has won the battle!" I stand there for a second, shocked. Then I just start crying. Happy tears, may I add.

"Come here boy!" Finn runs to me, and I hug him tight.

"Hey Val." I hear Misty's voice. I stand up. "Good job. Here's your gym badge. Take good care of it. You get a case too." I take them and stare at my badge.

"Thanks Misty." She holds her hand out. I shake it with a big smile. I then walk over to ash.

"Wow Val! That was amazing! You had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!" He seems really excited.

"Well thanks ash!" I pat his head. He laughs, and hugs me. I think about yesterday in the park. That same feeling. I kind of like it. No, I love it. Wait, what am I saying! I can't like ash, he's my friend! I try to shake the thought out of my head but I can't. I then realize I've been staring into space. Space being ash's eyes. All he's been doing is staring into mine as well. I shake my head, trying to get back to reality. Why do I keep thinking of him?

Ugh.

I walk out of the gym with a smile on my face and three amazing people by my side. We talk until we reach the pokemon center. I heal my pokemon, climb into bed and doze off.

AN: okay I had fun writing this :3 I hope you all enjoyed! Expect more soon, I'm in South Carolina, so it's going to be hard for me to find time to update, but I'll try as hard as I can!
