The next morning, Alex woke up and Derek startled her, causing her to jump.
- I didn't mean to scare you, he said while laughing.
- Well, you did a hella of a job doing it.
- Come on in the kitchen, I made breakfast.
- You made breakfast, she said with a chuckle.
- Yeah, I've been taking cooking lessons.
- Well, okay, lemme get washed up.
- I'll join you.
Alex stopped Derek in his tracks.
- Eh, no. We're not at that stage yet.
They both laughed while Derek went back into the kitchen and Alex went to the bathroom to wash up. Once She was finished, she joined Derek downstairs to eat breakfast.
- Wow, you cooked all this?
- Yeah, I told you I can whip it up in the kitchen.
- Yeah, whatever, she said laughing.
The breakfast looked like a buffet: pancakes, waffles, eggs, grits, sausages, etc.
- This food is actually pretty good, D.
- Yeah, I know. I'm the best cook around.
They looked at each other and laughed as Derek joined Alex on the couch and handed her a glass of orange juice. They ate breakfast, laughed, and watch TV together. While Derek was washing the dishes, Alex asked him:
- Who lives next door to you?
- It's a lady name Carlotta Brown, she owns a salon in her home.
- Who lives with her?
- Her, her daughter Cotton, and her 2 goddaughters.
- What's their names?
- Star and Simone Davis, their mother died and they been in foster care mostly all their lives.
- Damn, that's tough.
- Yeah, later on, we can go over there and introduce you to them.
Later on, Derek and Alex went next door so Derek can introduce Alex to the women.
- Hey peeps, Derek yelled.
- Hey, D, a white girl with blonde curly hair, wearing a big T-shirt and shorts, said to Derek.
- Where's Ms. C?
- She had to run some errands, and Cott went to work.
A girl, with blonde blackish curly hair, wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, came from downstairs.
- Wassup, D, she said.
- Hey, Simone, he replied.
- So, who's this, Simone asked.
- This is my girlfriend, Alex. Alex, this is Star and Simone, the girls I was telling you about.
- Nice to meet y'all, Derek told me so much about y'all two.
- Oh did he, Star said with a snappy attitude.
- Yeah, he did.
- Well, y'all 2 come outside and sit on the porch with us so we can get to know you girlfriend more better.
The 4 went outside on the porch and started to talk.
