CHAPTER XLIII: 43rd week at work

"Are you sure about your decision EunByeol?" HaeNa looked at me worriedly as I put on my heels "You've put so much into this. Letting it go all of a sudden is too..."

"I know what I'm doing HaeNa. Believe me, I really think it's for the best. Trust me on this ok?" I smiled at her, assuring her that everything is fine "I'll get going now"

"Be safe"

Unlike what I usually do, I sat near the window of the bus just for me to look out.

I never saw the view going to the ward because I usually sleep when I'm riding the bus going to the ward and going back home.

It was my rest time

"I should've done this before. I never knew looking outside releases stress" I mumbled to myself

The trees, the colorful stores and the busy streets of Busan was really beautiful and it replenishes myself

I got off the bus as I reached my stop and started to walk towards the ward.

I was greeted by the receptionist and I know for sure I'll miss her 'good morning' greets

"Good morning Ms. Lee. Have a nice day at work" She bowed

I placed the one box of cookies in front of her "Good morning to you too. Make sure to enjoy these ok?" I smiled at her

"Thank you so much Ms. Lee. I'll eat these well"

I went inside the pantry and saw MinAh and SeoJoon fighting like cats and dogs

"I wouldn't be surprised if you two become a couple" I teased as I put down my stuffs and getting presents from my bag

"Ew no EunByeol! I have class and this crap right here isn't qualified" MinAh roasted causing me to chuckle

"Wow you're to talk. I have standards that even if you wear the highest high heeled shoes you won't ever reach it, shortie" SeoJoon retorted making MinAh man up but, she is really short

"Here. Stop fighting already" I handed them their gifts

"What are these for?" MinAh grew suspicious rather than thankful

"Yeah, it feels weird to receive these. Are you leaving?" 

I looked at them at disbelief but, smiled

"It's nicer to hear some 'thank you's from you two" I rolled my eyes at them and left their curious states behind

This is it...

I breathe in to gather courage

"You can do this EunByeol! fighting!" I cheered myself up and went to his office

...

"Come in" His faint voice responded to my knock

I opened the door and went inside, still feeling kinda nervous

"Oh EunByeol? I was about to call you" He stood up and gather some documents "please seat down"

I sat down on the sofa and he went to seat next to me

"About Jimin's surgery, it's already scheduled. It will be done at the 23rd of this month" He informed me

That's the day after tomorrow....

"That quickly?" I tried to be happy at the information but, I couldn't even pull up a smile

"I told you that I want to do it ASAP right?" And I nodded

"Don't worry about Jimin. I already told him yesterday and he was willing to undergo the surgery. He also wanted it ASAP"

"Jimin wanted to do it? He's ok with it?" I was surprised. I thought he'd be scared to take it. I was actually really worried because I know he would decline it but, hearing that he wants to do it ASAP?

It really is good news

JungKook nodded while having his famous bunny smile "anyways, what brings you here?"

My heart stopped for a second remembering my agenda on visiting

"Well, that uhm-" Breathe EunByeol "I'm here to send this..."

I gave him a white envelope and he was surprised at the sight of it. He knew for sure what it was

"Since Jimin's condition is sure to be cured I think it's the perfect time to hand this over..

Being a psychiatrist was really my dream but, after actually experiencing it.. I found out that I really am not fit for this job. I'm also weak. I found out that I really couldn't handle it. So, that's why I'm giving this to you."

"But EunByeol, how about your dream on having a clinic of your own?"

"I've already reached my dream and I'm satisfied with what I have achieved. I don't want to regret it in the future if I don't resign now.

I'm a very emotional person and I put my emotions first before thinking logically and that's not what a true psychiatrist should do. That's why I'm really sorry. Sorry that I realized it late that I'm not fit for the job"

I stood up and bowed at him

"I respect your decision EunByeol" He stood up "just don't forget that you have a handsome friend that runs a ward ok?"

He hugged me and I hugged him back

"I won't forget, Kookie" I laughed and so did he

...

"Why do you always show up infront of me?" YoonJi flipped her silky short hair while flashing me her bitchy face

"I was ordered to inform you that after this day, you'll be looking after the VIP patient after his surgery" I smiled at her

Her eyes grew wide and her thin lips hung open

"In that way, I'll be putting him in your care. I think I can worry less knowing that you'll be looking after Jimin"

"Of course! It's because I can do much better at taking care of Jimin than you do!" She was completely flustered but, still tried to put her bitchy side

"Congratulations YoonJi. Fighting!" I hugged her and went on my way

One last stop....
One last visit....
One last shift......

My 43rd week at work...
