       "Ughhhhhhhhh."

I sat on the comfy cushiony sofa. "What wrong now?" School had currently finished, and I was at my friends house.

My best friend lay down on the floor, "my neck!" He groaned, "it feels like I got run over by a truck!"

I stifled a laugh, "and what was the colour of the truck?" I asked in a teasing voice.

He sat up and glared at me, "your making fun of me," he accused. His finger was pointed towards me, and he didn't seem very happy.

"Of course," I admitted, "your always teasing me..."

He crossed his arms, "barely, I only do it when..."

"Only when you feel like it," I interrupted, "which is nearly always."

        He pouted, "that's not valid."

I stood up, "suuuure." With that, I made my way over to the kitchen. "Well, since I am your friend, I will cook something for you."

As quick as lightning, he was suddenly behind me. "I get to choose, right?" He asked.

I nodded, "it can't be too complicated though."

He grabbed my shoulder, "how about cookies?"

I grinned, "Okay that works, it's not too hard to make either...."

"With icing!" He interrupted, "and professional decorations!!" He waved his arms around crazily, and for a moment, he looked like a kid.

"So much for easy," I grumbled.

He walked over to his bedroom, and yelled, "tell me when it's done! I'll be sleeping, so you can yell!"

I huffed a breath of annoyance, "that's typical John."

           And I began.

           $

The amazing aroma that filled the beautiful creations I had just made, was divine. I had closed John's door, afraid that he would smell it, and come running.

I reached towards one, the icing was placed professionally, just like he had asked. Some times I wondered if he became my friend for my baking.

            "John!" I yelled, "I finished!"

I had only finished pronouncing the last word, and he was right in front of me. "Wow! They look so good!"

"Yeah,' I agreed, "I decided to make them better because of your throat."

He didn't hesitate to grab one, and stuff it in his mouth. I facepalmed. So much for a sore throat.

"John," I began, a little nervous, "I don't have too much information on the trials... I was wondering if you did."

He glanced at me, food was still stuffed in his mouth. "Iaw hdohnt knghw."

I sweat dropped, "Could you speak when your mouth isn't full of food?"

He nodded, and after a while, he had finished the cookie. "I don't know."

"You don't know what?" I asked annoyed.

He shrugged, "I don't know anything about the trials."

It took me a few seconds to process the information. "Whaaaat!!!!!"

        "What did you expect?"

"I expected you to know something!" I groaned, "but we are now doomed!"

He shook his head, "with my ability, I doubt we will have that much trouble."

        I nodded, "I guess..."

He grinned, "you can be sure about that!!!"

I patted his hair, "I hope so..."

He stuffed another cookie into his mouth, and he smiled in satisfaction. I guess the cookies that I had made were pretty good!

"John," I tried again, "what do you think of the competition in the trials..."

He sighed, and swallowed the remains of the cookie. "It's going to be hard," he admitted, "but I think we can pull through."

I smiled, "that's comforting, but could you go in specifics?"

His smile faltered, "well, Remi and Blyke wont be the hardest, but I know enough to know that we cant underestimate them. They work very well together." He paused. "Isen and Arlo are going to be a real challenge, since to beat Arlo, I need my full attention. And you will be facing Isen. But I think that if I hurry up and beat up Arlo, I can help you beat Isen. And then there's Altruistic..." His gaze darkened. "Her ability is pretty good, but the only thing I worry about, is the fact that she doesn't react to pain. And she's a complete genius."

I stood there, and tried to keep a stoic face. "And what about knowledge tests?"

        "We don't stand a chance..."

I buried my head in my knees, and tried to soothe my breaths. "So in general, there's a big chance that we would fail first?"

My head was yanked up. "Thats not happening." John stated. "We are going to win, do you hear me!"

I smiled, 'Typical, he never gives in.' "Of course."

He let go of my head, and mumbled an awkward sorry.

I chuckled, "its fine, but I should probably get going, I need to clean my dorm."

He stared in my direction, "Who is your roommate?"

        My eyes twitched, "its Altruistic."

He gasped, "why haven't told me before?!"

I scratched the back of my head. "She asked if I could keep it a secret, unless you asked directly."

John glared, "why would she ask that?"

I shrugged, "I don't know why, she did say something about you threatening to murder her in her sleep. So it kinda does make sense..."

He smiled, "I remember that! I tried to find her dorm number so I could sneak in  and give her a good scare."

I glowered, "you do realize that she took it seriously."

        "How?"

"She wouldn't sleep for the whole week straight. Besides, she asked if I could ask if you meant it." I lay on the couch, "when I told her that you didn't mean it, she began to sleep again."

By the time I was finished telling John this, he was laughing harder than I had ever seen him.

"Well I will be going now," with that, I picked up one of the cookies I made, and headed out the door.

John stood up, "good luck with your dorm! And thanks for the cookies!"

We both said our goodbyes, and I walked over to Wellston.

"I hope we do win this thing," I said out loud. "It's been a while since I've seen John actually happy."

"Who are we kidding," I smirked.

       "We are going to win!"
