I'm bored so enjoy.
Unknown's POV
"They just left the house boss. I'm not sure where they're going but your boo thang sensed someone was here and packed the family up and left." The masked man spoke into the phone from atop the roof as he watched Kehlani and her family leave the house hurriedly.
"Well follow them you idiot. I don't pay you to sit around and watch people." The voice on the other end hissed. The masked figure sighed and swiftly made his way off the roof and into the car parked down the street from the house.
"You don't pay me at all but I'm on it." He muttered before hanging up and pulling off.
"Alright Parrish. Let's have a little fun shall we?"
Kehlani's POV
I got onto I-70 and began driving west towards Grand Junction. There was still a grip of people on the road but not a lot of traffic so the ride so far was smooth and trouble free.
That is, until a silver coupé pulled up pretty quick behind me. I was afraid he was gonna crash right into the back of me so I sped up and switched lanes. Luckily the cars were a lot more spread out at this point so there was lots of room for me to move around.
The person in the car was relentless and made it sure it stayed on my tail. I wasn't sure what else to do so I just sped up and started weaving around any cars that were in my way. The coupé stayed right behind me the entire time and I found myself starting to panic. I looked at the car through my rear view mirror before taking a deep breath and exhaling.
"You got this. The day you chose to marry this woman, you'd promise to protect her and your family at all cost. Just breathe and use your head." I hear Hayley's voice from behind me. I briefly turn around just to see that Hayley's still sleeping soundly with Agapi's head on her lap. Did she sense what was going on even though she's sleep. I was super confused right now and would have to ask her but now wasn't exactly the right time.
I turned my attention back to the road and noticed an exit off the highway coming up. I quickly looked in the rear view mirror and saw that the car was no longer behind me. I look around and see that it now is slightly in front of me, trying to cut me off. I take this as my chance to swerve onto the ramp and exit the highway, earning a few blaring horns and insults being thrown.
"I'm up."
Y/N shot up from her peaceful slumber and looked around with bug eyes.
"What's wrong? What happened? Are we here already?" She just started bombarding me with questions.
"Babe! It's ok. I hope it is at least. Calm down I'm gonna protect you guys no matter what. Can you be looking out for a coupé or any other suspicious looking vehicles please?" I asked as I figured out another way to reach Grand Junction without getting back on the highway.
—————————Your POV
We reached Grand Junction quickly after the little car chase we went through. Shaina was really after us. Like on that getting chased by the government cause you know too much type of shit.
Kehlani quickly drove in and out of neighborhoods, finally reaching an isolated road that took us all the way back to beautiful house surrounded by trees and
"Holy crap. You never told me about this." I gush as Kehlani pulls into the garage.
"Yeah well..here is this house that I had built in case Shaina decided to make a comeback. I hope you like it." Kehlani said sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and got out the car, opening the door and picking Imani up while Kehlani woke Hayley up.
Me and Hayley carried the kids in the house while Kehlani secured everything and double and triple check that we weren't followed. After checking for the 5th time, I pulled her away from all the windows, closed the blinds, and draped my arms around her neck.
"I think we're okay baby." I tell her, trying to look her in her eyes but she refused to look at me. I grabbed her chin and gently made her face me, before pressing a short but sweet kiss to her lips.
"Thank you for getting us out of that situation. You're a good woman and an even better mom. Stop stressing so much. Me and Hayley are gonna be standing by your side 100 percent of the way. I don't like seeing you like this. Come get some rest."
Kehlani pulls away from me and walks to the window checking it for cars yet again.
"I don't want to go to sleep and wake up with all of you guys missing or hurt. Go to sleep and rest. I'll be lookout." She replied, never taking her eyes away from the window. I huffed and grabbed her arm, pulling her upstairs with me while she begged and pleaded for me to let her watch out for suspicious people but I refused. I practically threw her in the bed and climbed in next to her. After a while, she stopped fighting me and relaxed against my body. I kissed her lips one last time before laying my head on her chest.
"I love you." I whispered against her skin. I noticed a few goosebumps form and I smiled to myself.
"I love you too my queen."
I know it's short but I needed this chapter to build up the next one.
