The Evil Within

Chapter 6

The flashlight hits the ground as she freezes, the sound of low heavy breathing was heard. Her eyes began to water knowing too well of who they belong to, she swiftly turned around to be met with the white emotionless mask staring back at her. It was a trap all along. Her hands squeezed the knife as she kept eye contact with him there was no way she was in shape to run. Her eyes landed on the blood that covered his right hand and the chefs knife.

A creak of the floorboard causes her to snap out of her daze as Michael walks towards her causing her to mimic his steps away from him until she hit the wall.

She watches as he got closer before Nicks voice booms out. "Maddey?!" Making her scream out for him. Michael grabs her by the neck and lifts her up against the wall. She struggles scratching at his arm before her thoughts turn to her knife, with the remaining strength she has she stabs Michael in the shoulder causing him to drop her before ripping the knife out. She tries and crawls away only for Michael to roughly grab her legs causing her to scream, tears of pain falling down her cheeks.

"Maddey!" Nicks voice booms through the house as fast footsteps approach the door. He twists the knob only for the lock to prevent it. Michael drags her towards him causing her to shriek in pain and she tries and kick him. "Nick!" She screams tears streaming down her face as Michael grabs her by the back of her shirt and throws her onto bed only for her to hit the headboard. She holds her head in pain as her vision blurs in and out of conscious. The door finally smashes open as Nick sees Maddey on the bed only to turn and face the silhouette towering over her.

He watched in fear as the white emotionless mask turns to face him, chest heaving and knuckles tightly grasped around the bloody knife. Nick snaps out his daze as he hits Michael across the face with the bat, making Michael drop the knife. Nick goes for a second hit only for Michael to grab his wrist and squeeze tightly causing Nick to scream in pain dropping the bat in the process. Michael twists his wrist before a pop is heard making Nick scream bloody murder and falls to his knees.

Maddey regains conscious as she hears the scream, her eyes turn to see Michael hovering over Nick. She watches as Michael grabs him by the back of the shirt and roughly throws him against the wall face first before repeating. With panic eyes she searches for anything to help Nick until her eyes land on the bat, she grabs it turning to face Michael.

The banging continues as more blood seeps from Nicks face, causing her to slam the bat against his back. "Leave him alone!" She screams throwing a swing towards his legs causing his knees to buckle under him and hit the ground with a grunt. She limps around Michael watching as he tries to get up before she twists the bat and hits him the face with much force that the bat breaks, splinters and pieces hitting the ground causing Michael to fall to the ground with a loud thud.

"Nick!... wake up please!" She cries shaking him as she looks at his bloody face noticing the broken nose. She cups his face as more tears stream down her face watching as she can't hear any sounds. She rummages through his pockets before shakily grasping his phone, blood smothering against the screen. "C'mon.." she cries as the phone buzzes watching Nicks bloody face for any sign of movement.

"911 what's your emergency?" Her eyes widen as a voice answers. "Please I need an ambulance, me and m-my friend were..a-attacked. Please my friend is badly injured..I-I don't know what to do! Please hurry!" Maddey sobs. "Mam I need you to calm down we got an ambulance on the way. Is your friend breathing?" Maddey looks towards Nick before answering. "N-no I can't hear anything, I-" she gets cut off as her mouth is muffled by a large hot hand, causing her to drop the phone.

The heavy breathing fills the room as she struggles against the strong arms of the shape. Tears stream down her face as she feels Michaels grip get tighter beginning to constrict her like a snake. Thinking quickly she opens her mouth and bites down on his hand, the taste of copper entering her mouth. Michael let's go before grabbing her hair roughly and pulling her back towards him making her let out a painful scream. She throws weak punches against him before something hard hits her head causing her vision to go black and fall limply into his arms.

"Mam?...H-hello?...M-" Michael tilts his head before using his heavy boot to crush the phone causing silence to fill the room once again. He turns walking out the front door looking towards the silent neighbourhood before turning his gaze down to the unconscious girl in his arms watching her delicate face. Sirens in the distance knock him out of his trance making him resume his walk back home, back to...haddonfield.
