"Ummm nothing," I said quickly
"Okay..." he said suspiciously
"Let's get working!"
We got our computers out and started our research.
***
Hours passed and we had gotten almost our whole project done.
"That was fun," I said
"For you," Colby laughed
I playfully hit his shoulder and mocked him "fun for you! I did all the work! You played around with fonts and colors!"
Colby laughed at me
"Did I just get the famous Colby Brock to laugh!?"
"Yes... You got me there Macky,"
Macky. A nickname. Colby Brock. The emo kid just gave me a nickname!
"You can hang out for a bit if you'd like," I offered
"Okay,"
We both grabbed or phones and got on them. We stayed there for a while until I got bored.
"Want to watch a movie?" I asked
"I dunno... do we get free popcorn and it depends, what movie?"
" I don't care, and yes we'll get free popcorn," I laughed
"Okay,"
"You get to chose the movie," I said standing up and running to the kitchen so he couldn't argue with me.
I heard him groan loudly at my decision. I popped us popcorn and grabbed two bottles of water. I then headed back out to the living room where Colby was. I sat down on the couch next to him and put the giant bowl of popcorn between us. Colby grabbed the remote and hit play
"What are we watching?" I asked as I went over to shut of the lights.
I didn't bother shutting the curtains because it's November and it was already dark outside.
"Pet Cemetery, the old one," He smirked
"Oh come on Colby! You know I don't like scary movies. We went over this last time we had a project together,"
He smirked knowing what he did. I just rolled my eyes playfully at him.
We watched the movie and it resulted in me jumping multiple times. We were about half way through the movie when I realized that I had moved closer to Colby. As the movie came to a finish I had rested my head on Colby's shoulder.
"Okay my turn to pick a movie!" I yelled putting on five feet apart.
"Really? Cheesy romance?"
"Yep"I giggled
———
Half way through the movie I felt Colby's arm rest around my shoulders. I smiled in the dark lightly hoping that he wouldn't notice.
Wait. Am I smiling about Colby making a move on me? No no no. I can't be! Or am I? Ughhh feelings are the worst.
———
When the movie was over neither of us made an attempt to move. My head was on his shoulder and his left arm was around my shoulder. I was comfortable until I heard the door knob rattleOh no
I quickly grabbed my phone and read the time. 7:45.
I was watching every single door movement. Colby was watching me with a concerned look because I had quickly sprang away from our recent position.
The door opened and in came my dad. Phew.
"Hello Mackenzie!" My dad chirped as he was holding some bags from the grocery store
My body relaxed
"Hi dad," I got up
"Hi Mr. Reed,"
"Hello," he paused when he turned around "Colby?"
"Yes sir,"
"Wow I haven't seen you in a while. How are you?"
"I'm good," he smiled
"Are there any more bags?" I asked
"Yes. They're in the backseat," I got up and Colby followed me.
I grabbed three and Colby grabbed the last two
We brought them in and set them on the table.
Colby was handing me things and I was putting them away.
"Thanks for the help you two. I really appreciate it,"
"Anytime Mr. Reed,"
"I hate to leave but I do have to go," my dad said "I'm working a night shift,"
"Oaky dad. Love you!"
I called as he ran out the door.
Colby and I just sat back on the couch and watched more movies.
