Mack's pov

I sat at the kitchen table staring off into space.

"Hello, earth to Mackenzie," Colby snapped in front of my face

"Huh? What?"

"You zoned out," he said

"Oh," I replied

"Are you okay?" He asked sitting down on the chair next to mine "you don't seem like yourself,"

"I um, I'm fine," I said maybe too quickly

"You sure?" He asked uneasy

"Yes,"

"Mack stop lying. Tell me what's going on,"

"I just..."

"Mack,"

"My sister... when she was alive... she had a boyfriend. They were so good together, until college. It split them up and they ended so badly that they never spoke a word to each other. And then one night my sister was killing in a campus shooting," I choked out

I looked over at Colby who's mouth was wide open

I got up knocking the chair over. I ran up the stairs and to my room shitting my door behind me. I locked it and sighed letting a tear fall. Why did I have to be so stupid? He didn't need to know your worst nightmare! He didn't need to know what keeps you up at night. He didn't want to know.

"Mack," I heard from the other side of the door

The door handle rattled before he knocked

"Mack please," he said "let me in,"

"I'm sorry,"

"Sorry for what? You haven't done anything wrong,"

"You don't need to know my nightmares," I sighed

"Mack,"

"No, I'm sorry," I cried by mistake

"Mack let me love you,"

I looked at the door, "what?" I said under my breath

"I know you're scared. I know your nervous. I know that you're afraid you're going to mess things up. I know about your nightmares and how you rarely sleep. I know all about it. You slipped the note into my locker. The night before we got together you put the note In my locker not Taylor's."

"Colby," my tone soft,

"Let me love you. I trust you. You won't mess up anything. There's nothing to be afraid of, I promise"
