------------------------------------------------The bullying hasn't died down one bit since Jake found out. That was three months ago. The disease hasn't died down either, for Jenna is now six months in and she's lucky to have still survived. Even so, she has stopped going to school. The bullying online is just as bad at school, but Jenna wouldn't know, everyone is still talking about what happened. It was such a big thing, nothing like that has happened at their school in years. It was such a rare thing that doctors and scientists still dont know how to cure it completely. The only way is to either fall in love with someone else, get the person to love you, get a surgery to remove the emotions, or die. That was it.
Jenna was staying at home most days now. Brooke still cared for her, but Chloe wanted nothing to do with her. Jenna was slowly losing every one of her school friends, still having a few online friends though. Some of them left once they found out about Jenna. The poor girl would cry every time she felt like she had to or did throw up. It caused her to lose so much weight, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't eat because she felt nauseous, then get nauseous because she wouldn't eat. She couldn't sleep either, her thoughts kept her awake and it was hard to sleep peacefully. Jenna's life was miserable.
Whenever someone would come over to check in on Jenna, like someone form school, Jenna would tell her mother to not let anyone in. She didn't want anyone to see how she was, how sick she was. Jake and Brooke came over multiple times, both being pushed away every time, only once did Jenna let Brooke enter her home. That was a week after Jenna stopped going to school. Brooke had noticed that she wasn't posting as much as she was and it concerned her. She wouldn't even be online sometimes.
"Jenna, baby, we really need to get you to a hospital.. If this continues, I don't know what I'm going to do.." Jenna's mother sighed, stepping into the doorway of her daughter's room. "I'm scared for you, babygirl. I tried to do some research, but I could barely fine anything.."
"But Jake could change his mind! I'm-" Jenna began coughing and hacking up flower petals. Even the thought of Jake made her die more. "-I'm fine.. Mom.." Jenna said softly, her voice rough and scratchy. The mother just shook her head.
"No, babygirl, I can't allow that. Please, we need to go now.. I'm more concerned than you think I am." She sighed, walking in and taking her daughters hand to help her stand. "Please change clothes? Take a shower? You haven't left your room in weeks." She stated, doing her motherly duties. Jenna just nodded, coughing. She went and took a shower like her mom said, changing clothes and walking out. She looked a lot better than she did lying in bed and wasting her life away. The two soon were prepared to leave, driving off to the hospital to check out everything with Jenna.
It's been hours since Jenna and her mother entered the hospital, Jenna now in intense care. Hours turning into days, days turning into weeks. Many of the doctors were concerned, but they new that there was nothing they could do without using thousands apon thousands of dollars. Jenna was now to spend the last of her days in the hospital with nothing left. Jenna lost a lot of weight due to the disease, her throat not healing from the thorns. She sometimes wouldn't even talk for a week, only write.
While at school, Jake had been trying his best to talk to Jenna, just to make her feel better. But neither one, Jenna or her mother, were home and Jake didn't want to barge in. Even though Jenna had been away, Jake couldn't help but start thinking about her more often. He definitely couldn't tell Chloe because she would call her a slut and then have sex with Jake to prove Jake wrong. Chloe was possessive of Jake, but she was a bitch. She would go and fuck other guys, but if Jake was talking to another girl, Chloe would verbally attack her.
Two more months in the hospital. It was only two more months until the tragedy happened, The mother was devastated, Brooke was devastated, and Jake didn't even know. That wasn't until Jake was driving by a week later, after the death. He noticed Jenna's mother's car in the driveway, assuming something was going on. She usually wasn't home. Jake parked on the side of the road, walking up to the house and knocking in the door. Jenna's mother opened the door curiously, looking and smiling softly when she saw the young man in front of him. "Oh, Jake.." She whispered, trapping the boy in a hug. She wanted to cry again for the fourth time today, but she knew she shouldn't. Not in front of Jake. "She loved you so much.. I wish you could have been there. I wished she could have let you in.." She said, on the verge of crying at mentioning her daughter.
"W-What do you mean, Mrs. Rolan? Has something happened?" Jake asked, incredibly worried by the fact that Mrs. Rolan was so close to crying. What's wrong with Jenna? Did something bad happen? The mother pulled away from the teen, taking a deep breath and wiping her tears before continuing and explaining.
"Jenna.." She started. "My baby is gone, Jake. She passed away Thursday." She whispered, forcing a smile on her face. "I just wish she couldn't have gone.. It's my fault.."
"No! No, please, dont blame yourself, this is my fault! I did this, I caused this!" Jake cried out, tears beginning to form at his eyes. It was his fault, it was his fault that he didn't love Jenna back. His fault he thought she was a freak. His fault she was dead. "I'm so sorry, Mrs. Rolan. I'm so sorry I did this to her. I should be the one dead, not her. Jenna didn't deserve this." Jake choked back tears as the mother invited Jake inside to sit on the couch. Jake cried into the mother's shoulder, hugging her tight. "Sh-She didn't deserve this.. She didn't have to die- This is all my fault." He sobbed.
