It was colder than usual and dark as hell. The sand underneath my feet was making my toes numb. The ocean in front of me crashed onto the beach lightly drowning out almost all sound from the city I left behind. To my right, I saw two boys and a girl- teenagers having fun. Laughing and dancing around the beach, underneath the stars. I chuckled to myself and walked further down.
The stars walked with me, they kept me company. The ocean still crashed onto the beach mercilessly and was loud as always. It was peaceful though. I came to a stop soon enough and faced the wide sea. I dropped my bag and walked to the water. I sat down and it slowly rose up to me, only reaching my hips. I sighed and shivered- it was freezing. I leaned back and looked up at the stars.
Each one held a story. Each one held a mystery. Each one held unseen beauty that I wished I could catch a glimpse of. Imagine being up there. Away from the world. Peace and quiet. No worries. No people. No pain. Just the simple feeling of floating through space. Imagine disappearing. That was the dream right?
Heading off to a new town where no one knew my name and my fave. Making new friends and new family. Being who I really wanted to. Seeing beauty on this messed up planet and breathing it in. That was the dream right?
Not for me at least. I wanted to leave my home. My school. My job. My city. My country. My continent. The world. Leave it all behind and end it right here. There are just some messes that can't be fixed and I've come to peace with that.
I looked back and my bag was still in the sand. I got up, my legs numb from the cold and awkwardly carrying my body towards the sand. I took out a towel from my bag and dried myself. I put my bag back on my back and walked further down the beach. After a few quiet, peaceful minutes, I reached part of the beach where there were steps leading up the hills. I walked over and onto one step. I dusted the sand off me and put my shoes back on. I wrapped my jacked around my shaking body and took one last look at the ocean and the stars.
I'll be there soon.
