Author Summary
This poem I actually wrote my junior year of high school. I just went back to edit it the other day, and some sort of feeling resonated within me. Just thinking back to my 16 year old self weighing out the burdens of the world (at the gym on the stationary exercise bike) and realizing that it is NOT entirely our faults BUT we must take some fault and fix what we have broken within society.
We have to clean up our parent's mess, and our parents' parent's mess. We are "MILLENIALS" I swear if I am categorized by this term one more time I will lose my shit. We are looked at as "dumb" and "inconsiderate," etc... EVEN WE BRING EACHOTHER DOWN, NOOOOO we are in this together let's build each other up.. it kills me, WHERE THE HELL DID WE GO WRONG!?
We have all this technology shoved into our faces at a young age, and it has advanced into such a complexity that it has seriously brainwashed basically everyone we know (including ourselves) we lost our entire individual identities, we are becoming whoever society wants us to be.
We are becoming the newly formed millennial stereotype. Terrifying. WE NEED TO PEEL OFF THESE LABELS RATHER THAN FEED INTO THEM!!!! Then the previous generations question: "why are they like this?" "Why can't you figure out 12x26 in your damn head?" BECAUSE OF YOUR GENERATIONS THANKYOU VERY MUCH FOR CALIBRATING US (also I am an English major so that would explain why I can't even figure out 12x8 in my head)!!! But now we must reverse. SO, that being said, hope you like my reverse poem
