Summary: Promises hold no power in war. Sacrifices will have to be made, but the pain that follows leads to chaos.

"You shouldn't be here." Y/N stated turning to face the mech, ignoring the urge to lift that stupid visor. She didn't like it, and she knew that he knew that just as well as she did. Yet maybe it was safer because if she could see his face then she would've most likely hit him. Still never could she allow herself to be mad at him, because she wasn't there when he needed her but did he really have to make the choices he had just because she was believed to be offline. It could be seen as an intertwined ordeal where it was both of their faults, or Y/N could take the easy way and pin it all on the Decepticon leader.

It was his fault that families were torn, and with it Cybertron lost and destroyed. He had turned her sparkmate into such a cold creature. Soundwave was different now, so very different that sometimes she couldn't recognize him anymore. Yet he never did break the promise, and still he stood before her.

"I know about the autobot femme. Who is she?"

The recording of the warlords voice filled the air around them, "He knows then?" Soundwave nodded his helm, because of course he told Megatron everything. That's who he was and there was no lying to the war lord no matter how hard you try too, "He sent you to kill me?" He nodded again.

He had never broken the promise, had never attempted to do so, until now. Yet he didn't make a move and Y/N understood and her optics began to fill with tears.

"I'm not going to kill you." That's what he wanted, make it look like he lost in a fight. Soundwave could never hurt Y/N no matter how lost he became "Y-you could come with me. Optimus knows he'd let you stay." The words were desperate, offering a chance of redemption yet she knew the answer.

"You know I can't." There it was, the voice, the one she wanted to hear so badly that she only wanted to cry more. He couldn't just "escape", he was in to deep in the decepticon ranks. He was the mech known to be the most loyal to Megatron and he wouldn't just leave. Not even if she begged him too. Then there were the other autobots, none would be elated to hear of her affiliation with the mech.

She knew it was inevitable. Megatron had sent  Soundwave on a mission to kill. One of them would die here. Whether it be by their own servos or not.

There were horrors to war, death and destruction they scarred. It was something that had to be accepted or you'd never make it . That was what was scary about it all, the way that a mech so lost in his greed that he would demand another to break the most sacred bond of their kind and have him commit murder. Neither could kill the other.

So they did it together, turning on themselves. It only took one hit, and their servos intertwined. This was their sacrifice and war was the monster. It was the destroyer of society and had torn the peace between two lovers. Y/N's last moments wavered as her optics struggled to stay open. Her helm turned to watch her sparkmate laying beside her. Her derma lifting in the form of a smile as the visor was lifted.

"I love you."
