Summary: You loved him once, but your thoughts grew more grave as time went on. Should you give up with searching for the mech you once knew?S/N ~ Sparkling Name
Things used to be different. She had adored him from a far, a gladiator and any sane femme would swoon at the sight of him. She had been no different, but she knew how to hide it. That may have been what attracted him to her, a little fiery spirit in such a small frame, Y/N had him wrapped around her digit before he even knew it. That had been before.
Before war ravaged their planet, and Y/N found herself with the husk of a mech she once knew. Yet she stayed, she stayed because no matter what he had become, Y/N would always love him. She was his queen, he her king, but sometimes it seemed he forgot the promises they made so long ago.
Y/N sighed to herself as she scrolled through her data pad. She had been working along Soundwave, her processor an equal match for the silent mechs. She liked to believe they had created a mutual friendship, mainly because she had done plenty of things her sparkmate would scold her for if he knew. She knew Soundwave would've told on any other bot, but no he never told on her.
"Inquiry: Y/N is upset."
The femme looked up, revealing the lubricant threatening to spill from her e/c optics. She didn't know what to say, was she doubting the stability of her sparkmate? Most definitely, but she couldn't do anything about it.
"I'm not upset, just frustrated." Y/N stated flatly, but her voice began wavering near the end. She slammed her data pad onto the table. Soundwave watched her, he watched an old friend preparing to have a mental breakdown, "I need some air, I'm going out."
She left briskly after that, her servos covering her face as she made her way through the halls of the Nemesis. She couldn't take it, the bland metal walls mocked her with the life she never got. Why would he do this? To her? To himself? To them? She was crying now, lubricant leaking down her faceplate as she stumbled the sobs rocking through her frame. Then she punched the wall. That was mainly a move made out of frustration, she didn't know what to do.
She knew of only one other bot that would understand, the only one who would listen to her. Yet she couldn't find it in herself to do anything, the wall offering her support as she slid down to sit on the floor. Y/N knew she was in one of the less used halls on the Nemesis, so she shouldn't have to worry about anyone walking by her for awhile. Guards rarely came through here even on a bad day, so she let it out, pulling her knees to her chassis.
"What do you think we should name them?"
"What about S/N?"
"I was going for Titus, what's with that face?"
"Do you plan on hating our sparkling?"
"Of course not!"
"Then Titus is out of the question, we're going with S/N because your ability to choose a designation is terrible."
She didn't know how long she sat against the wall, memories filtering through her processors, memories of a mech she knew she would never see again. A crooked smile on a face plate scarred from years in the pits, but now it was so corrupted that it no longer held the same emotions. The touches that grew rougher and less sincere as time went by, and then there was a servo resting on her face plate, tilting her helm upwards. Her e/c optics meeting with red ones.
"Y/N?" His voice was soft, and it almost scared her. She ripped her helm out of his touch, hiding her face.
"Go away," She muttered, pulling her legs tighter into her chassis, she wanted to make herself invisible.
"Together forever right?"
"Of course, now come here sweetspark."
"Y/N," His voice was more stern this time as he kneeled in front of her, "Why are you crying?"
What kind of question was that? She was caught in disbelief, was he so oblivious with his lust for power that he hadn't realized what he had done? She lifted her helm her optics narrowing as she looked at him.
"I love you,"
When did those words become a lie? He didn't known the meaning of those words anymore, and his act of ignorance angered her.
"As if you don't know," Y/N spat, taking the war lord by surprise, as she stood up abruptly, she was starting to wish she had just left the Nemesis all together. She should've asked Soundwave for a groundbridge, but she already had the feeling that the silent mech had been the one to inform Megatron of her current state. Sure she could sneak around and bend the rules without getting caught, but she was in distress and she couldn't hold it against the third-in-command for doing what he thought was right."
"I'm sorry, we did all we could, he didn't make it,"
That was when their relationship changed. Her inability to bare a sparkling, the pain of loosing a child did that to a bot. He blamed her. Pain was the source of this chaos, a feeling of injustice had brought about the will to carry through with a hunger for power.
"He's not well, Orion, it worries me. I can feel our bond weakening."
"Everything will be fine, Y/N. Megatronus needs to heal, just as you do. He just goes about it a different way than we tend to."
Starting a war was not often recommended when healing, destroying their home was not a way to cope with pain. Y/N knew she had lost him the day she lost her child, but Megatron had lost her as well.
"Are you happy?" Y/N asked, her optics peering down into his, he had yet to stand up again. If anyone happened to walk by the scene would be strange, seeing the mighty lord Megatron kneeling in front of a femme so much smaller than him.
"Y/N I-"
"Answer the question, are you happy with this?" She questioned again, raising her servos in the air motioning towards the ship around them, "Is this what you wanted?" Her optics once again began to fill with lubricant, and she wiped at them furiously, "Because I can't, I can't do this."
Megatron stood up now, towering over her as he stepped towards her, forcing her to press herself against the wall. She was sure she had angered him, but as she stared into his optics she saw something she hadn't seen for what felt like eons.
"You doubt my love for you?"
"I didn't want to, I tried not to. It's just hard-" Y/N stopped herself before she could ramble on for to long, and she tried to turn her helm away, but a servo kept her from doing so. Megatron turned her helm so that she was looking up at him.
"I'm sorry that I have not provided you with the live I promised, but understand that my feelings are no different than the day I first saw you." Y/N sniffled as a smile over took her dermas, it seemed the mech she loved was still there. She just had to try a little harder to get him out.
"I love you."
and she never allowed herself to doubt those words again.
_______
