Rip Current

Y/n's POV

Your family decided to plan a day at the beach. It was perfect out. It was sunny not a cloud in the sky and it was hot wich just called for a beach day.

Your mom packed everything into the car. Following your brothers and best friend you all hop in the car and make your journey to the beach.

"I wanna carry the towels," I say as we pull up.

"That means Jordan and Corbyn get the cooler. Ashley can help with the bag of food," mom says picking up the blanket she would set up on.

"Ash do you wanna take all the towels and I grab the boards with y/bff/n?" I ask and she agrees taking them down the sand where the others went. We grabbed the four surf boards each carrying two.

We get to our spot and see that they already set the blanket up on the ground. A couple of teenage guys and a girl walked over to us with another blanket and more towels.

"Gabbie," I yell hugging her.

"Listen guys don't swim out to far I want to be able to keep an eye on you guys," mom says making us roll our eyes.

I take off my top and shorts leaving me in my swim suit then walk out into the water. It was calm and there where barely any waves. The rest did there own thing and took out surfing or just tanning.

I swam out a bit and the waves where getting stronger now. I turned to swim back but I couldn't it was like the water was pulling me further out. I was being dragged out farther by the second.

I tried swimming against the current but it was no use I could no longer touch. Waves crashed over my head as I was tossed and pulled under. I screamed and struggled trying to get someone to notice me. Giving up and turned on my back and let the current float me so I could gain back strength and swim. The current kept getting faster as I struggled to keep float.

Jack's POV

I looked around as Corbyns mom called all of us kids back to the shore to eat lunch. Once we all got there Corbyn started panicking. His sister was no where to be seen.

"Guys where is y/n? She should be here," I ask as we now notice that she wasnt with any of us.

Gabbie was the first to speak up while looking out at the water. "You see that? There's a rip current you can tell by the discolored water being taken farther out. I bet she got caught in it and drifted farther out," Gabbie says as Daniel grabs his board from the sand next to himself and attaches it to his foot.

I did the same but he stopped me putting a hand on my chest. "No Jack your not coming with I won't let you get hurt.. these things are dangerous call 911," Daniel says pushing me back.

I watch as he runs into the water dipping under the waves and coming back up. I take out my phone and dial the three number emergency contact.

Y/n's POV

Its only been around fifteen minutes of being caught in the wave and I can barely see shore. Everything is so far away that they are dots. I start to panic what if I never see my brothers or sister again? What will they do when they notice im gone? I see someone on a board getting closer. I start trying to swim against the current slowly and yelling out to the person on the board.

A wave swept me under again but a hand reached out grabbing my hand and pulling my body upwards. Daniel pulled me closer so I could clutch onto the board. He started swimming out from the current along the shore line till the water stopped pulling.

"Are you okay y/n? I was so worried about you." He says lifting your face up and attaching his lips to yours in a short kiss catching you by surprise but you kiss back.

"Thankyou Dani...Scared and tired," I say leaning into him as he swims toward shore. He gets to where he can stand and pulls us into the sand I drop down and lay on the burning hot sand letting it burn my skin. I was happy to walk on it again.

Without Daniel I wouldn't have survived so I thanked him over and over. We slowly walk back up the beach for what seems like forever before I spot a bunch of police and a group of worried people. Corbyn turns to us with tears in his eyes before running and tackling me in a hug.

"Y/n I thought you where dead and Daniel he went missing," Corbyn cried pulling his best friend into a hug. "Thankyou for bringing my sister back safely!"

The rest the time was spent getting hugs and questions from other people and paramedics. I got washed off and wrapped myself in a towel. There was no way I was getting back in the water to swim. While the others had a little more fun Daniel and I went up to the shop to get little ice creams and enjoy each other's presence.

"Really though Daniel thank you I would have drown without you! And now im never swimming in the ocean again," I chuckled hugging the brown hair blue eyed boy in front of me.
