Thalassa Justice sighed, picking up the plate that her daughter, Trucy, had left at the table. She had rushed up to her room immediately upon finishingthe snack of cookies and milk, because she had to go and call her friends.
Thalassa had laid out a strict no phone policy at the table, she always had. She knew that teenagers acted as if they couldn't live without their small pieces of technology, even if for only a 20 minute snack or meal.
Since her oldest son was out working at the bar, trying to make money for himself so that he could finally move out and live on his own, it was almost always only she and Trucy at the table. Trucy was always such a sweet girl, but just like any teenager, she was beginning to drift away, into her own life, surrounding around her friends and social life.
Both of Thalassa's kids had practically grown up right before her very eyes, it felt like just yesterday they were little and stumbling around the house. Now, they were getting so much older, and growing into their own lives.
Trucy was still a teen, still in high school, but she was very talented. She had a natural talent of performing. Whether it be those silly magic tricks that she had always been obsessed with as a child, or just being an interesting and funny person to listen to, she was an absolute entertainer. And she made use of her talent. She was going places, that much was for sure.
Apollo had major talent as well, in singing and just music in general. He had gotten this from his mother, of course. Thalassa had been a singer before, and still performed from time to time, but wasn't nearly as big as she once was. After her kids were born, and after their father had made the asshole move to walk out on them, she took a slight break from all of it. She was well stocked on money though, and lived in a nice place with her kids. She still cooked, cleaned, and everything, because that was what she wanted to do. If she wanted maids and cooks, she would get them. But she didn't, and her kids liked what she was doing, why change it?
She had offered to give Apollo money to help him move out and live on his own, but he had simply refused. That wasn't how he wanted it to be, he had said. He couldn't leech off of her anymore. She didn't consider it leeching at all, he was her son. Her son that she loved so deeply.
Apollo didn't want to act upon his talent, for reasons that Thalassa had yet to figure out. He had a beautiful voice, and had went to vocal lessons for years, why would he let all of that just simply go to waste?
"I'm not good enough. I'm not as good as you, I'm not as good as anybody in the industry. It's just never going to work, mom. Just because you're a singer doesn't mean I have to be." Was what he had said over and over again, and it was only partly true.
He was good enough. Hell, she would even go as far as to say that he was BETTER than most in the industry. But, he truly was. He was a damn natural. Yet he refused to see that. Sure, he didn't have to become a singer because his mother was, but it wasn't as though he didn't have the capacity. He clearly did.
She had tried like hell to try and coax him into the spotlight, to try and get out there, and that it would be especially easy since she had the resources and contacts to make big things happen. But, just like always, he refused.
She was beginning to accept that. Maybe he just didn't want a life of fame. Maybe he didn't like music and singing as much as he used to. He was still her son, and she still loved him. She had wanted the best for him, and wanted the world to see just how talented and amazing he was, but it was obvious that it wouldn't happen, not even if she took manners into her own hands. Especially now, that her fame was dwindling.
She heard the door open, and in walked her son, still in his uniform. He looked as battered as he usually did, working at a bar was pretty tiring, from what he had told her.
