Klavier sometimes wished that people relished in his good moments rather than in his downfall, but he also understood why the media saw him the way that they did. They loved a story, they loved to see a tragedy in action all because it wasn't them.
The good moments seemed so distant now. Klavier feared that one day they would fade completely, just like they had in the public eye.
When he had started out making music, ACTUALLY making music, he thought maybe things were making a turn for the better. It seemed to be about time. Wasn't that what was supposed to happen? Wasn't there supposed to be a rainbow at the end of the storm?
That's exactly what he thought it was: a rainbow. He and his friend Daryan had thought of forming a band. They figured it would be a good way to spend time, and Daryan said it would help Klavier to get his mind off things. At first, Klavier doubted that, but then he decided to give it a try.
It was fun, and Klavier's mind finally felt a bit clear for once in his life. He felt like he was actually doing something with himself. He didn't feel the need to rebel, or do things bad for his health. He had music. He had an escape.
Getting lost in his art was one of the most hypnotic feelings. He didn't need anything else, if he could just get lost in the world of song.
Daryan loved it as well, and together they became nearly inseparable. They spent such large chunks of their free time together, making their music. They dreamed of being famous, but had a gut feeling that it would never happen. It was mostly for fun. Something that Klavier never thought he'd experience. He actually had a hobby.
But, as time went on, Daryan began to take it all too seriously. He actually wanted to put it all out there. He wanted to make something of himself. Klavier was so caught up in just DOING it that he didn't care if it went anywhere.
"Come on, don't you want to perform for people? All we do is sit here and make songs by ourselves."
"You're an idiot. It doesn't just work like that."
"Maybe not for people like me..." Daryan pauses for a second to dramatically grin. "But for people like you..." He pokes Klavier in the chest. "It can work like that."
Klavier rolled his eyes. "You have no idea what you're talking about, dummkopf."
"There you go spewing that German shit again. I know you only learned it to make me feel inferior. Your dad was super fucking famous, you know that right? You have connections! Use them."
"My dad is also dead, you know that right?"
Daryan sighed and stood up. "There's no winning with you."
"My dad is dead! How am I supposed to use connections from him when he's not even here? Can you explain that?"
"You just being his son is enough. You can sing just like him, write songs, they'll hear the name Gavin and they'll shit themselves."
"Who will hear the name? Who?"
"Whoever. Have you never seen any movies? You play at places, small at first, and build your way up. But you're a Gavin. You won't have to start at small."
"We're kids. Nobody is going to care if I'm a Gavin. And plus, our lives aren't a movie. Grow up." Klavier was even more visibly annoyed than he was before. Since when had Daryan become so pushy? It was tiring and quite annoying.
"You know what? Fine. Don't listen to me. Become a lawyer like your brother, spend the rest of your life in debt." Daryan then walked away.
"Lawyers make a lot of money, you know!" Klavier shouted before his friend slammed the door. That boy was very pushy, and he wasn't going to stop being pissed until he got what he wanted.
