Kazz's POV

Everything seemed to be fitting into place, just as I had suspected. The ghouls would ask for proof which we 'couldn't' provide and likely threaten to kill one of us. This was my plan and it had worked. I had won. I would win and be praised, likely given a raise or even promoted for not only killing two ghouls but for killing the most well-known and feared ghoul groups, the Kazuman's.

~~~
Kagome looked horrified, staring at her friends. She finally figured it out I supposed and it must have stung, like rubbing salt into an open wound. She struggled against the mens hold, tears falling across her rosey cheeks. Her best and only friends had lied to her for her entire life, but I did it to protect her. She was my friend and colleague after all and I wasn't about to lose her too, especially not to those filthy ghouls. I couldn't stand to lose another friend, not now.
"We're ghouls!" Hanako yelled, her own face red from anger. She was trying her best to avoid showing her kagune, but it was no good. The butchery ghouls would not let us leave without showing our kagune, and she knew it.
I started first, triggering my kagune. It flickered and hissed to life, my right eye turning black and red, the ghoulish appearance. The glasses man nodded, indicating his that he accepted it.
"Who is next?" He asked, staring across at us. His eyes landed on Tora who had promise to show hers. That's when everything turned to chaos and my plan failed.
~~~

Crack.
Crack.
Crack.

The brick walls to the outside shattered, spilling rubble across the ground. The noise distracted the ghouls, giving Kagome a chance to break free. She jumped on both their feet, digging her heels into their toes. They let out a shriek of complete agony, dropping her. She rolled away, grabbing her bag in the process before regaining her posture.

I turned to face the rubble. Covered in dust were at least 10 CCG investigators lined up outside. One of them held a large quinque that had hammered down the wall, reducing it to rubble.

"It's the Doves!" One of the men pointed out, even though it was quite obvious. They each activated their kagunes and approached them, but they were greatly outmatched. The ghouls didn't stand a chance against the CCG now, but my plan was ruined. If only they had come a few minutes later, Tora and Hanako's secret would have been revealed. I clenched my fists angrily before charging towards the ghouls. I sliced at their legs and torso's, blood decorating the walls. Kagome had her quinque activated and took off as well. She was fast, almost to fast to keep up with but the ghouls managed. Of course, that was what was so great about them. They had extraordinary speed and strength, not to mention the natural weapons they possessed and their incredible healing. Sadly, the CCG were at a disadvantage with such a low roof and limited space they had little room to fight, so we had to somehow take the fight outside to the rest of the CCG.

 Hanako and Tora did a good job at looking horrified and they were soon escorted to a safer location outside the battle. That got me distracted. Suddenly, I had been pinned against the wall by the female ghoul from earlier, her kagune digging into my shoulder. I groaned in pain.

"You'll pay for this with your life!" She hissed, twisting the bikaku. I screamed, feeling the hole growing. Tears lined my eyes, buy I tried my best to keep them inside my sockets. As she raised one of the tentacle-like objects, she was slammed to the side. Standing in her place was Tora. Her face was red from exhaustion but overall she looked quite alright.

"T-thanks." I managed without throwing up. She knew that I had been just been trying to murder her only a minute ago yet she was willing to stick her own neck on the line to save my life. Damn, I hate ghouls.

Tora's POV

"You should get back to the fight. Don't think I can save you a second time." I muttered before running back outside. I got a few curious glances from the CCG line outside, guarding the broken wall from oncoming ghouls either from the inside or out. Inside, I could see both Kagome and Kazz going all out. For a bunch of humans, they were extremely skilled. I couldn't begin to imagine the power they would have if they were ghouls. Kagome, especially, was almost as good as the previous Juuzou Suzuya, maybe even better. She wasn't as crazy and she had perfect technique and strategy. In the battle field, she was a whole other person. She was strong and confident and fast. I almost envyed her, envyed them. I know fully understood why so many ghouls fell to the hands of the CCG, even if they were just humans.

Eventually, the last ghoul fell. Both Kagome and Kazz seemed quite exhausted but overall, they were fine. Kazz still had two large holes in his shoulders which had been roughly bandaged and considering that he was the most injured, the Doves all seemed fine. A tall lady that I estimated was in her 30's drove Hanako and I back home, leaving both Kazz and Kagome with the CCG.

~~~
"Are you alright Tora?" Aiko asked, hovering over me with a tray of coffee in one hand. I nodded, shoving him lightly away. He still looked quite unsure, but left it at that. I wasn't about to tell him that my cover was blown. He would overact and probably kill both Kazz and Kagome, getting himself killed in the proccess. I knew that those two wouldn't be seperated easily and he couldn't take them both on. They were too strong. I doubted he could even kill one of them by himself. Why was I thinking about this? I asked my self, feeling quite gloomy. Hanako walked up to me, slipping a small cup in front of my nose. I took it and sipped on the bitter drink trying to force a smile.
"You know how close I was to showing my kagune today, right?" I asked Hanako, keeping my voice low so that no one could over hear. Hanako nodded sadly.
"That was super scary, but I'm glad you didn't." She answered, showing a joyful smile. She always seemed to lighten the mood. Even just being around her made me feel somewhat happier than I had been a minute ago. She just had a cheery aura around her, like a warm field in the summer time. I knew I had to tell her the truth, but I didn't know how she would take it.
