A Surprise of a Lifetime

" You're awake. " Alpha Henry said at the door. I didn't even notice him standing there until that moment. Scott shot up from his chair looking half asleep still. He walked over to me and looked at me, really looked at me. I suddenly blushed for no reason and looked away. Scott rubbed his eyes and smiled at me.

" You can thank me later for saving your life Kathy. " He said as he took my hand in his, not the way Dimitri did, but the way a loving sibling would....

" Do not think of Dimitri." Cami said. She was still hurt about him just leaving. I gave Scott a smile, a real one.

" Doc Smith said you can leave as soon as he's done checking up on you. " Alpha Henry said, walking closer to the bed, he placed his hands on the sides of the bed. His hand twitched, like he wanted to do something, but decided against it. I just chook it off and laid-back waiting for Doctor Smith.

" What's up Scott?" I asked. He had let my hand go and sat back down; he hands looked at Alpha Henry since he had come back from talking the doctor.

" Ask Henry." He spoke.

Since when does he call him Henry? Ru asked.

" Alpha Henry?" He cringed, for some odd reason he didn't like me calling him that, I've noticed every time I do, he pulls away or makes a face that's kind of cute.

" Kathy... Uhm... I don't know how to say this but... We know..."

Dammit! How did he find out? Okay calm down Kathy... I said to myself.

" We know that you're not a pure blood." Scott said. He looked up at me, his eyes still soft but holding seriousness.

" I'm not...?" I played stupid. I couldn't let them reveal my cover!

" You're a hybrid Kathy..." Alpha Henry said. He had this look on his face, he wanted to say more but didn't.

" How did you?" I asked. Alpha Henry ran his hands threw his hair.

" The doctor said your heartbeat stopped when in surgery, but you were still alive. When they were done your heartbeat started again. He suspected that you went into your Vampire state to heal because your wolf was drained." Scott said.

They both looked at each other, intensely. Then again at me.

" Kathy... Henry has something he has to tell you." Scott drilled a hole in his head.

Alpha Henry walked closer to the bed.

" I don't know how much you know. Because well you weren't raised in a pack but... Anyway... Wolves, like many other supernatural creatures, have a counterpart. A soul mate, you might call them, they are like your best friend, but more... When a wolf is born, they are assigned a mate by the moon. When male wolves turn 18, they have the ability to sense their mate, while female wolves sense them at 16."

" Why are you telling me this?" I asked, knowing full well why.

" Because I've found my soulmate, in you." He said the last part just above a whisper. Scott clapped his hands dramatically.

" That wasn't so hard now kiss and make up. " He said. I gave him a nervous laugh and he gave me a wink.

" But why... Why can't I feel anything towards you?" I asked. Alpha Henry looked hurt at the words.

" Maybe because you are a hybrid. Your vampire side is surprising your wolf, or that's what we think.

" You're not far of their buddy." Cami said in her usual sarcastic tone.
