Chapter 2 | "Heartbroken Devil"

Setting: Precinct

Lucifer walked over to Chloe's desk. "Hello Detective." 

Chloe looked up at him, then looked back at her computer.

"Are you sure your okay?" Lucifer asked.

She refused to answer him.

"We're still partners—right?" 

Still no answer.

Lucifer decided to leave her alone, so he went to Ella.

"Oh hey Luce." Ella said, while examining something.

Lucifer rolled his eyes.

"Sorry, —Lucifer." 

"Yeah um.. is there anything you need help with?" Lucifer asked her. He felt completely useless right now.

"Oh thanks but I've got this under control." Ella told him. 

"Alright." He walked toward the doors. 

"Wait!" Ella shouted after him. "I might have something for you to do."

Lucifer looked behind him.

"Take these files to Chloe." She started stacking them up in his arms. "You're the only one who could get her attention right now." 

"Oh. sure." Lucifer severely disagreed with her, but he thought maybe if he gave her work, she'd talk to him.

"Detective, here's some... stuff." He set the files on her desk.

Chloe looked at Lucifer, then at the files. She said nothing and continued on her computer.

"I truly did scare her..." 

Setting: Lucifer's Penthouse

Lucifer sat on his couch, trying to figure out how to get Chloe back to normal.

The elevator made a ding and Chloe stepped out from it.

Lucifer's eyes went wide. "Detective?" 

"Hey, Lucifer. I wanted to talk." 

"Oh, sure." Lucifer stood up.

"Listen, I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?" 

"For not believing you." Chloe apologized. "And.. honestly I'm not scared of you."

"Oh no, that's fine. I understand. It's hard to believe something as strange as me being The Devil."

They both smiled at each other.

Suddenly Lucifer felt a gust of wind from his back. 

Chloe stepped back. "Lucifer?"

"Bloody hell..." Lucifer mumbled.

He looked over his shoulder to see pearly white feathers.

"Lucifer—" Chloe backed up further.

"Detective, please stay calm." Lucifer tried to keep her from freaking out. 

"Lucifer... why do you have..—"

Lucifer tried to fold his wings into his back, but they wouldn't go.

Chloe wandered toward the window, trying to avoid Lucifer. "What's happening?" 

"Detective!" Lucifer managed to move his wings behind him, making them less visible.
