Calum's pov
Calum is ten and Luke is nine."Calum you can't hide in there forever." Luke, his childhood friend knocked on the bathroom door. I sat up against the door with my knees dragged up to my chin, ignoring Luke shouting at me. Something inside of me felt weird and it scared me.
"Calum.." I could hear Luke's now weak voice whisper, it sounded like he was sitting down on the other side of the door.
"Please, speak to me." Luke said with a desperate voice.
"I'm sorry Luke." I said feeling very sad. I could feel the tears running down my cheeks, and quickly wiped them away.
"Calum, please don't cry." Luke said quietly. I heard Luke starting to cry and I panicked. No, Luke don't cry. I thought to myself. Angry at myself for making Luke cry. He's sad because of me. I could hear the door unlock, in the background of the angry thoughts. Surprised I stood up and opened the door. Luke stood up and wiped his wet cheeks.
"Don't cry Luke." I said feeling sad and still a bit angry at myself.
"You didn't speak to me. I'm sorry if I did anything you didn't like." Luke cried. I hugged him tight.
"No Luke. You did nothing. This isn't your fault." I said trying to comfort him.
"Why did you run away then?" He asked sniffing. I didn't answer. I just hugged him even tighter. The truth was I had no idea what happened. One moment we played with the cars and the next the car in my hand turned to my favorite color, blue. I got terrified and something inside me felt unfamiliar so I ran away. Scared of myself. I walked back into my room with Luke when he had calmed down. The now blue car still laying on the floor where I had dropped it before running off.
"Let's continue playing." I said sitting down, but not touching any more cars. The door who unlocked itself long forgotten.
A few hours later:
"Luke! Time to go." Luke's mum, Liz called. Luke dropped the lego airplane he had in his hand, he quickly stood up and ran away. I followed him to the hall where my and his mum stood waiting. He put on hie green jacket and gave me a quick goodbye hug. Then ran out, through the door. When they had left, me and my mum sat down and watched spongebob.
"Mum." I said, feeling nervous. I wanted to tell her what had happened with my car. But what if she didn't believe me?
"Yeah?" My mum, Joy smiled at me. I fiddled with my fingers, nervously.
"Um, when me and Luke played with the cars, my old red car turned blue. I didn't do anything. I just held it and suddenly it was blue." I said frustrated, as I didn't understand what happened. I desperately wished she would believe me. She laughed quietly.
"Yeah, I'm sure it did." She laughed.
"Mum. I'm not lying. I'm scared that I will hurt someone." Mum smiled sadly at me.
"Darling, I promise you that I know you will never hurt anyone. You are way too kind hearted." She said and hugged me. I smiled a small smile at the compliment.
"Thank you, mum." I said back and hugged her back. Though I still didn't know what happened or how it happened.
A few weeks later:
"Mum, can we play in the loft?" I asked my mum. She nodded and continued talking to Luke's mum.
"Come on." I told Luke and ran upstairs to the old stairs in a corner. This time I carefully walked up the stairs, as last time I got stuck in between the stairs. And pushed the hatch up, so it flew open.
"Calum.. Is this a very good idea?" Luke asked me standing at the end of the stairs looking up at me.
"Luke don't worry. Nothing will happen. Besides if we are going to play ghosts, this is definitely the best place for it. Luke shook his head, unsure if we should do this.
"We can play something else." Luke told me. And I sighed and shook my head.
"It'll be fun." I said happily and jumped up. I looked down at Luke. Clearly he didn't agree with me. After a moment he sighed and came up. I giggled and ran over to a big moving box and hid behind it. I heard Luke walk around and some hustle. After a minute he jumped up behind me. He had found a old duvet and put I over his body. I screamed, terrified at the jump scare. A strong wind came out of nowhere and Luke were thrown back.
"Luke! Are you okay?" I yelled and ran towards him laying on the ground. He groaned and took the duvet off him while sitting up.
"What was that?" He asked confused and rubbed his head. I shrugged my shoulders, confused as well.
"Boys! What was the sound? Are you alright?" I looked at Luke who looked back at me.
"We dropped something, nothing broke joy. We're fine, thank you." Luke shouted back as politely he could be.
"Come on, you were probably right. We shouldn't play up here." I said and climbed down the stairs with Luke close behind, still rubbing his head.
"Does it hurt?" I asked worriedly. Luke nodded,
"Yes, but only a little bit now." He said and smiled at me. I smiled worriedly at him and gave him a hug as comfort.
"Hey wanna play tag outside?" Luke said after a moment of silence. I nodded excited, and ran down the stairs and to the background of my house. My lawn wasn't very big, but it was big enough. I ran up to Luke when he came out the door.
"Tag!" I said and touched his shoulder with my hand. I giggled as I ran away with him close behind, giggling as well.
