athena dialed jack's number as tears fell from her eyes. loud sobs were heard through all her apartment.

she tried to stop crying, but instead she choked on a sob. after a couple more seconds, the boy finally answered. he suddenly got worried when he heard the sobs and sniffles from the other end.

"why would you lie to me?" athena whispered as she let out another sob.

"what are you talking about, gray?"

"you told me you weren't with her anymore!" jack could hear the pain in her voice. he wish he could hug her, but at the moment it was almost impossible.

"because i'm not." he answered confused.

"well she did say the opposite."

"you can't believe her. you know she doesn't like you, she's probably doing it because she's jealous. you have to believe me when i say we're not together anymore." jack skratched the back of his neck out of pure nervousness.

"the thing is i do believe her." athena sobbed once again.

"i broke up with her about two weeks ago. you need to trust me... please?"

"i don't know, jack..." she sighed.

"you know, maybe you don't trust me because you're the one that's with someone else." the boy spoke up, not thinking before doing it.

"i let you back in right after you broke my heart so don't you dare question my loyalty, jack avery!"

with those words, athena hung up the phone, throwing it to her bed after. she fell to the floor as she let her tears keep falling.
