A Weird Love Story

Chapter 7- Movie Night

Maria's P.O.V.-

Grace went to go answer the door. I wonder who it is? Whoever they are, they're causing her to miss the best part of the movie! We decided to watch The Descendants. It's a really sad and depressing movie. Rydel requested funny movies, but Dianne said that the characters in a sad movie would understand her pain whereas the characters in a funny movie would rub their happiness in her face. Dianne is strange like that, but I have to admit, it is a pretty good movie.

After a few minutes Grace comes running into the room. "Hey, Maria. Can I please speak to you out in the hallway? It's urgent."

"But this is the best part of the movie!" I whine.

"Maria!" she says motioning for me to follow her.

I sigh as I get up from the couch and follow Grace upstairs. She walks into the bathroom, shuts the door, and locks it.

"Why are we in the bathroom?" I ask with a strange look on my face.

"Because Dianne can't hear us!" she says with a look of worry on her face.

"What the hell are you talking about, Grace? If you are trying to keep something from Dianne I'm not going to help you because Dianne is a good friend and she deserves to know whatever it is you are hiding and..." Grace cuts me off in the middle of my sentence.

"Maria! Just shut up and listen to me! I'm not trying to keep anything from Dianne! I need help!"

"What do you need help with?" I say in a more calming voice.

"Ummmmmm... Well... Uhhhhhhh... Guess who is at the door?"

"ROSS LYNCH?!" I scream just a little bit to loudly.

"SHHHHHHHHH!!!!! No! It's... It's... It's Bill! And Joe!"

Wow. I didn't see that coming. Yet the first person I thought of was Ross... "Are they still there?" I asked nervously. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, knows this, but I actually like Joe but I'm always myself around him like I am with everybody so that's why they don't suspect anything.... I hope.

"Yes! I told them to wait outside for a few minutes! What are we going to do?!"

"How 'bout you keep staling while I go back and finish the movie? Ya? Ok bye!" I say unlocking the door but before I can step out, Grace grabs my arm and pulls me back in. "I'm serious Maria! Should we tell Dianne that they are here? Because she might freak out!"

"Who's here?" Dianne says standing in the door frame holding a bag of Skittles. "Omg is it Rydel's brothers?!!! AHHHHH!!!!!" she screeched happily dropping the bag then starts running towards the door.

"Wait!! No Dianne come back!!" Grace and I screamed running after her, but when we get to the front door, we stopped abruptly almost smashing into Dianne who was frozen starring at Joe and Bill.

"What are they doing here?" She whispered pointing at them.

"We just wanna talk to you." Bill said looking right at Dianne. Geez, it does look like he is sorry. I see Joe and he is smiling right at me until he speaks up.

"We Kemosabe?" Joe says confused. (A/N: sorry if you don't get that joke. Look it up 😁)

"Whatever. I need to talk to you." Bill says looking at the rest of us. "Alone!"

"Oh! Ya sorry!" I say as we all move out of the room and head upstairs. "We are going to finish the movie if you don't mind. Haha yeah..." Grace says.

We walk up to the screening room and Rydel sits on the massage chair, Grace sits on the bean bag, and Joe and I sit on the couch although I'm laying down on one end and Joe is sitting on the other bouncing his knee up and down. I wonder what he is nervous about?

About halfway through the movie, Joe says something to me. "Hey I need your help with something, can you come to the kitchen with me?"

"Um ok. Keep watching the movie without us." I say to Rydel and Grace.

When we get there, he asks me to sit down next to the island counter. "Can I ask you something?" Uh oh. Now I'm really nervous.

Joe's P.O.V.-

"We have been friends for a long time now and I was wondering... Will you be my girlfriend?" Ugh there I said it! I'm afraid of what she will say but it feels so good to get if off my chest. Thankfully it doesn't take her a long time to respond.

"Of course I will!! I have liked you for a long time but I've been to scared to say anything!"

"Really? Me too! I was just scared to say anything! Well now I wish I said something earlier. So... do you wanna go finish that movie?" I ask

"Sure!" I stand up and slowly kiss her on the cheek and she blushes. She never blushes!!! We walk back over to the screening room and the girls are so into the movie that they don't even realize that Maria and I are snuggled up on the couch with her head on my chest and my arm around her back. It's... perfect.
