Chapter 16- What Do I Have To Do?

Grace's P.O.V.-

Well that was really weird. I wonder why Ryland just ran off like that. I keep thinking about why he would have to go so soon but then I see Rydel waving at me and then I start running over to her but it's kind of hard to with these shoes on and all the bags on my arms but I get there eventually. "Hi! Wait where is Dianne?"

"Hi!! She had to go home once the movie finished I don't know why but enough about that, how did it go?"

"The date was amazing! We kissed!"

"YAY!!!! I'm so happy for you!! Here, do you need help with that?" She sticks out her arms and I give her a couple of my bags.

"Thanks so much. Maria wouldn't help me." putting an emphasis on Maria so that she could her me and when I turn back to look at her she just shrugs and Ross laughs. "You think this is funny Ross?" he turns to me and stops laughing, scared. "No." He presses his lips together and doesn't do anything. "Good." then I turn back to Rydel and she rolls her eyes.

"So, this must be your lucky day because I have amazing news!" Rydel squeals.

"What is it?" I'm really curious now.

"I got the tickets for the Divergent premier in the mail today and you're going!!!!"

"AAAHHHHH!!!!" Divergent is one of the things I love most in the whole world but people don't understand me. I then realize that people around me stopped and started to stare. Oops. "Sorry. Keep moving people." I say and they keep walking then I see that Rydel, Maria, and Ross are covering their ears with their hands.

"As I was saying," Rydel continues, slowly lowering her hands. "the premier is in 3 days so we have to get ready." I got my hopes up for nothing.

"In 3 days?! I was gonna go on a date with Colin in 3 days!"

"I'm sorry but think of it like this, would you rather go to a once-in-a-lifetime event or go on a date with someone that you just met and which you can go on many more dates with?" She's got a point. I know what I have to do.

"Ok I'll call Colin and ask him to re-schedule for another time."

"Good. We will be right back to give you some privacy." she looks to Maria and Ross and she jerks her head, motioning for them to leave with her. When they leave, I take out my phone and call Colin.

~start of convo.~

G- "Hi Colin. I have some good news and some bad news."

C- "What is it?"

G- "The good news is that I'm going to the Divergent premier!"

C- "That's great! I know how much you love Divergent!"

G- "Well the bad news is that it's in 3 days..." I trail off and everything is silent for a minute.

C- "That's fine." I can hear the sadness in his voice.

G- "Are you sure?"

C- "Yeah! Of course, this is one in a lifetime thing. Why don't we plan our date the day after the premier?"

G- "That would be perfect." I smile even though he can't see me.

C- "Talk to you later. Bye."

G- "Bye."

I walk back to Rydel and we all leave to keep shopping.

Rocky's P.O.V.-

Ive been walking with Riker through the mall for an hour and a half and all of a sudden we see Grace, Maria, Ross, and Rydel and we wave to them and they wave back. We are trying to find Ryland but he is nowhere to be seen. I'm tired and I have to beg Riker to take me home since we came here in his car.

We get there 10 minutes later and we see Ryland laying on the couch with his phone in hand.

"How the heck did you get here?" Riker asks worried.

"I walked." he responds not looking away from his phone.

"You WHAT? Dude that is not safe at all! Something could've happened to you!" I yell at him.

"Well nothing happened and I'm fine."

"Why didn't you just ask us for a ride?" Riker continues.

He looks up from his phone and sets it down. "I didn't want to bother you guys and I just wanted to be alone." With that, he stands up and runs up the stairs probably to his room. Once we hear a door close, Riker turns to me. "What do you think is going on with him?"

"I don't know. Do you know when it started?"

"I think it was when Rydel and her friends came over."

"You think it has to do with one of them?"

"Could be. He did seem weird whenever Grace was around and got mad about her date." We look at each other like lightbulbs went off in our heads.

"So, our little brother has a crush on Grace. Should we do anything about it?" I put on an evil smirk and so does Riker but then he stops and starts chuckling. "No I don't think we should, it might upset both of them and it might confuse Grace."

I frown. "Well we can at least we can help him get over her right?"

"Yes, yes we can." I turn my hand into a fist expecting him to do the same but he raises his hand instead and I'm about to high five him when he turns to fist bump me then we put our hands down and just stand there awkwardly.
