A Weird Love Story

Chapter 17- Things Happen

Ross' P.O.V.-

We've been walking around the mall for what felt like 10 hours, yet we keep walking and we are headed into Claire's. My least favorite store in the entire mall.

"Girls, we've been here for a while now. Can't we just leave?" I ask stopping right in front of the store.

They are a few feet in front of me so they turn around. "It's only been 2 hours." Grace says in a preppy tone.

"Only? That's a long time!" I reply to her.

"That's not a long time, like at all." Maria joins in with the preppy tone.

"Come on guys show me some mercy!" I plead.

"Look, your dare was to buy us anything we wanted for a day. Now if you don't want to deal with this then we can give you another dare instead of this one." Grace suggests in her normal voice.

"Well what's the other dare?" I'm very curious now.

"That's the thing, we don't tell you. You have to think of all the worst possible outcomes and decide what's best for you." Maria crosses her arms and I turn to Rydel. "Please, Rydel, don't let them do this to me!"

"This was your dare. Plus it's payback for how you got us in trouble and mom banning us to play laser tag with each other."

"I don't like you guys." I give them my credit card and I stomp into the store.

5 seconds later I run out of the store followed by a bunch of little girls chasing after me and I run to the nearest boys bathroom where they can't come in but I can hear them outside screaming my name. I bet everyone in the mall was staring at me. I take out my phone and call Rydel.

~start of convo.~

D (Delly)- "Helloooo?"

R- "Please get me out of here!!"

D- "Well where are you?"

R- "I'm in the guys bathroom."

D- "And you want me to do what?"

R- "Distract the girls!"

D- "Still shopping so I don't think so..."

R- "Rydel, get me out of here or so help me-"

D- "FINE! I'll tell Grace and Maria to distract them because if I do it then they will chase after me."

R- "Oh don't worry, they don't care about you." I say in a mocking tone.

D- "Grrrrr. Bye Ross."

~end of convo.~

I put my phone back in my pocket and in the distance I hear Grace yell, "Hey! You got the wrong guy! Ross went towards the food court!" I am actually very surprised that worked. A few minutes later I hear a knock on the door and then, "Hey it's Maria, you're good to come out." I open the door and look to the sides before stepping out and I see Maria smiling, her arm stretched out with my card in hand and a bag from Claire's in the other.

"Thank you!" I take the card from her hand and start brushing off some dust that was on my shirt.

"Ditto." she replies.

"For what?"

"For buying us all this stuff!" she hold up all her bags. "And for putting up with those fangirls."

"You mean like you?" I smile and she chuckles looking down then back up at me. "Yeah, like me." We stand there for a while, thinking, until she speaks again. "We should probably go home before they find out that you are not at the food court."

"That would be wise." we start laughing and we walk towards Grace and Rydel.

20 minutes later we arrive at my house. We put down our bags and I see that Riker is asleep on the couch. I'm tempted to wake him, so that's what I do. I look over at the girls and I give them a 'Should I do it?' look and they shake their heads furiously mouthing no with their wide eyes terrified but I do it anyways.

I lean over the couch and poke him in the stomach and shout "RIKER!" He has such quick reflexes that he sits up, screams, then punches me in the stomach making me wanna throw up. I bend over and my head is rushing but out of the corner of my eye I see Grace with wide eyes covering her mouth with both hands, Maria pinching the bridge of her nose with her eyes closed and her head down, then Rydel just standing there giggling. "Dude you are such an idiot!" Riker says to me.

I raise a finger to him so I can catch my breath before speaking. "I think I'm gonna go sleep for now."

"Yeah, we should probably get going too." Maria and Grace pick up their bags and walk out the door.

"Hey Riker, I'm gonna take a nap..."

"ROSS!" Is the last thing I hear before hitting the floor and everything going black.

Dianne's P.O.V.-

I decided to go back home after the movie. I couldn't stop thinking about Ryland. I really like him, but I think he has feelings for Grace. When he first met her he was all like, "I love your name," and then after he found out that she was taken he got all tense and weird around her, and everybody else whenever they talked about Colin. I feel terrible, but the moment I decide to completely move on from Bill, he likes somebody else. This is just great. I need someone to talk to, but I'm not sure how to tell Grace or Rydel. I might talk to Maria, and if I do I really hope that she doesn't tell Grace.

I also think that Maria has something for Ross, and I don't mean in a fangirl sort of way. I mean like, she actually, I guess, loves him. She always gets so flirty around him. She also hasn't mentioned Joe in a few days. Something is up. I don't know if I should tell Joe. Should I tell Rydel or Grace? Maybe even Maria herself.

I start to cry. I put my face in my hands and let the tears fall. They don't stop, and it burns my eyes and throat. I never thought that I could be caught up in such a mess.
