A Weird Love Story

Chapter 13- The First Date

Rydel's P.O.V.-

We are getting Grace ready for her date, or as she likes to call it, 'hang out', with Colin. Dianne wanted to do her hair first but Maria said that when she puts on her outfit, it could get ruined so we let her pick out the outfit. She is a genius! She chose out a pair of light denim overalls that end at the knees with thin straps; a white, sleeveless, collared, crop top that is from Kimem; a peach, light knit style, open waterfall cardigan; brown open toe, high-heeled shoes with cut outs at the sides; Dollhouse knockout booties; and a 'jumbo bloom bib' necklace with light pink gem petals and a clear crystal center on a gold chain. Grace insisted on the overalls even though we thought it wasn't 'first date material' but it is her date so we just gave up. Next it was time for hair. Dianne's division. Grace's ombré hair was perfect for Dianne to make into a long braid plus we added a beige knit beanie that we got from Nordstrom. Yay! It's my turn to do her makeup! I don't want to make her look like a totally different person so I only apply light eyeliner, mascara, some foundation, and bright pink lipstick. To top it all off, I let her borrow my cream colored, Red Herring, mini cross body purse.

"Ahhhh! You look beautiful!" Maria says in a sing song voice.

"Colin is gonna love it!" Dianne says with a huge smile on her face.

Grace just rolls her eyes.

"But seriously, you look great." I despondently said. Thankfully they didn't notice.

"Thanks guys."

With that, Grace walks out of the front door and hops into Dianne's car. We all wave as she drives away.

Colin's P.O.V.-

~20 mins earlier~

Today is my date with Grace and I'm totally freaking out! I don't know what to wear because I don't know what she is wearing! I keep going through every piece of clothing in my closet then throwing it on the floor. Wait, light-bulb! Rydel is friends with Grace so she has to know what she is wearing! I'll just text her.

~Start of text convo.~

C- "Hey I'm really scared and I don't know what to wear." It takes a little bit for her to respond but I am alert when it comes in.

R- "Well Maria is picking out her outfit right now but Grace really wants to wear overalls but not farmer style so just wear something comfortable but still classy."

C- "Okay, thanks!😊"

R- "Np."

C- "Oh! I almost forgot, what time should I pick her up and from where?"

R- "You don't have to pick her up, her friend let her borrow her car."

C- "Ok then... I can't wait to see her!

R- "Have fun!"

~End of text convo.~

I finally decide on some jeans, a green buttoned up collared shirt (un-tucked) with a leather jacket and some gray converses. I mess around with my hair for a little bit, smile at myself in the mirror and walk out the door. I get in my crappy car that is around 4 years old and turn on the radio. After a couple of minutes of driving, I hear What You Wanted by OneRepublic. I automatically turn up the volume. Love their songs! I start singing along, dancing at red lights until I get to 32 degrees. I get out of my car and enter the fro-yo place, find a table with two seats and wait. After 10 minutes she finally comes through the front door, her brown/blonde hair swinging side to side with every step she takes. She's gorgeous!

"I am SO sorry I'm late!!"

"It's fine really, just glad you came!"

"You should have started without me!"

"And miss your beautiful entrance? Never." I smile, she blushes and smiles back at me then I stand up and walk right behind her to the yogurt dispensers.

She gets cookies and cream yogurt, chocolate chips, marshmallows, coconut shavings, and hot fudge. Weird combination but it's who she is and I love that. I put kit kat pieces, kiwis, oreo crumbs, and hot fudge over birthday cake and vanilla yogurt. I just realized how weird that is too. I pay and we go sit back down at the table and start eating when I say "I love what you are wearing!"

"Really?! That's great to hear because my friends said that wearing overalls to a first date is too weird."

"It's a little...unsual but it looks super cute on you."

"Thanks. You look really handsome by the way."

"You think so? To be honest I had to ask Rydel for her help. She is a miracle worker." We both start laughing.

.......

After an hour of talking about each other and laughing, we decide to meet up again for another date even though we technically didn't finish this one because our cups were still at least half full but I still had an amazing time. We throw them away and head for the door. We stand next to her friend's car, which is great, in total silence just gazing into each other's eyes until she speaks first. "I will never forget this, thank you."

"I don't want it to end just yet." I lean in and she looks scared but she doesn't move away. I gently press my lips to hers and I close my eyes. I was hypnotized by the mellow feel of her lips and we stay this way for a minute until she pulls away, smiles, gets in her car, then leaves.

Best day of my life.
