Chapter 19- Love Is Not Always Nice

Joe's P.O.V.-

I don't know what to do, or say. I just can't believe my eyes. I came here because I know she likes to stay awake and I thought she would like some company. But apparently Ross came here to flirt because when I pull up to Maria's house all I see is her giggling to whatever he said. I put my car in park, get out, and slam the door not looking away from them staring at me. I march up to them really angry. "Joe? What are you doing here?" Maria asks. "Oh! So this is Joe. Nice to meet you man! I'm Ross Lynch." he sticks out his hand but I don't shake it.

"Ya whatever." I don't take my eyes off of Maria but out of the corner of my eyes I see Ross frown.

"Joe! That was completely rude!"

"Maria, I'm not happy and I think Ross should leave."

"Can we talk inside please?"

"I think I'm gonna go..." Ross starts walking away.

"Yes, Ross. Leave!"

"Ross! Stay!" She doesn't take her eyes off of me and Ross stops dead in his tracks.

"I need to talk to you Joe, in private, NOW!" She points towards my car and gives me the 'death stare'. We get in my Mercedes Benz convertible and pull the hood down so Ross can't hear us. When the windows are up, she pushes my shoulder back really hard. "Ow!!! What was that for?" She answers my question with a question. "What's your deal?!"

"My deal is that I don't like you hanging out with that dude."

"That 'dude' is a very nice person!"

"He is a SUPERSTAR! A superstar that you have been crushing on since the 7th grade! How am I supposed to compete with that?!"

"We are just friends! You don't have to compete with that!" I glance over at Ross and see him pacing back and forth, then started swatting at a fly. I looked back at Maria.

"I obviously do! You like to be around him, more than with me!" Right then, she cups my face and pulls me forward, her lips touching mine. This is the best first kiss anyone could have, even if we are fighting. Well not anymore. And as far as I know, this is her first kiss too and I can tell she is satisfied because she is smiling through it. I'm glad she made the first move even though I wanted to because I wouldn't know when to. She pulls apart and softly says, "I would much more be with you than anyone else." I'm very surprised and speechless. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that." she says and puts her head down. "No no no! It's fine! That was nice." I smile and she looks up at me and smiles too. "Don't you worry about a thing, okay?" I frown a little but she gives me her adorable 'puppy dog eyes' look and I can never say no to that. "Okay."

"Good." She starts to get out of the car but I grab her arm, pull her back in and she starts giggling, then kiss her on cheek. "Thank you."

"Thank you." I say then we both get out of the car holding hands and I walk up to Ross. "I'm sorry for treating you rudely." I nod at him and he nods back. "It's fine, really." then we shake hands and he says, "Well, I better be going."

"Ok Ross. I hope you sleep tonight." Maria says. Don't know what she means but oh well. He has his hands in his pockets while he gets into his car, then leaves. "So," I turn to Maria, "what do you want to do now?"

"Why don't we finish the movie I was watching?"

"I knew you were still up! Fine, but you know I won't really be watching it."

"That's fine, I probably won't be watching it that much either."

Once we get up there, we both lay on the bed, snuggled up next to each other, and we just stay there till we both fall asleep.

Ross' P.O.V.-

Not the best first impression of the guy but I knew he was just being a good protective boyfriend. I accidentally looked at their car and saw them kiss and it kind of disturbed me to be honest. I kind of felt jealous but there wasn't really anything I could do about it. I got home and crept up to my room and saw Ryland staring at me with a single light on like in a suspense movie, his arms crossed. "Where were you?" he asked. "Why are you still up?" I asked raising an eyebrow. "Couldn't sleep." he replies with the same monotone voice. "Me neither. So I went to Maria's. Then her boyfriend showed up."

"That shouldn't be a problem." I look down, sad. "Or should it?" he finishes. He stands up and walks over to me. "Do you like her?"

"No I don't like her but it just seems so nice to have a girlfriend in general." I respond.

"Ya I know what you mean." and he pats me on the shoulder then climbs to the top bunk and goes to sleep. I take off my shoes and I just now realize that I went to Maria's house in my pj's so I just get into bed but I can't sleep.
