Nicholas Felez
Nicholas was born in the kingdom of Bellum to an exceptionally strong and powerful family of wizards who specialized in holder type magics. One day his mother and father were selected to go on a mission in the faraway land of Seven. The mission was scheduled to take 3 months: 15 days to reach Seven, 2 months for completion of mission, and 15 days to return. They were supposed to return a year ago now, but no sign of them has been given since then.
Around the same time the Magic Council of Bellum granted his older brother Nicholas's new legal guardian was the same time everyone gave up hope. They forgot about the two legendary wizards who haven’t returned from Seven a year after they were supposed to. Their existence hadn't left an imprint large enough to deter anyone, anyone except for their son, Nicholas.
Nicholas vowed that day to find his parents, and that same drive carries him forward to this day. The day his parents' “death” was accepted, a knock shook the door and rang through the house. Nicholas opened the door to find no one standing there, no one in the area. All there was was a small black box sitting on the cusp of their balcony.
He warily bent down to pick it up and then held it at eye level, once more scouring the immediate area with his eyes for a sign of anyone who may have left this here. He opens the box to be greeted with a small slip of paper that reads: “Use this well Nicholas.” He removed the paper to be greeted with two rings: one with a picture of a wave and one that depicts a gust of wind.
He lifts the rings and slides the ring of waves onto his finger. He is lifted a few inches off of the ground and his head slung backward as if his soul was being sucked upward by an unseen force. He collapses gasping for air and his eyes focus in on the ring on his finger. The ring. He picks up the other one now knowing what to expect, and slips on the ring of gust. A similar fate awaited him, however, it wasn't as unexpected and Nicholas landed on his feet as confident as ever.
The box begins to glow as black turns to neon white, the color of angels, and then fades into the sky. All that is left in its place was one more note that read: You are now a holder type wizard who specializes in ring magic. Hopefully these rings will help you in the near future. The note then fades in the same fashion as the box, except this time, it leaves a confused Nicholas behind, questions swirling through his mind as if a pool of thoughts was going down a drain.
He runs back inside. He was a wizard, just like his parents and all the greats of legends. His smile quickly vanishes when his brother is no where to be found. He scours the house unable to find a trace of him. Nicholas waited that night, and the next day, and the next night. It was 4 days later when Nicholas gave up hope on his brother returning. He left his home and ran down the street to city hall and asked if they knew anything. He ran from door to door asking his neighbors and friends about the whereabouts of his brother. No trace was found and Nicholas lost his brother.
He returns home to find it set ablaze. Flames form a veil around the house with differing hues of reds, oranges, and yellows. It would be truly beautiful if it wasn't consuming every memory Nicholas had of his family. He held up his fist and screamed the words: Ring of Wave: Jet Spray! Water shot from his fist in a stream unlike that of a fireman's hose. He extinguished the fire, and ran inside only to find everything he cherished reduced to ashes. He cried and cried when suddenly he stopped. He no longer had any desire to cry. A he hasn't shed a tear since then.
Nicholas faced the facts that he had no reason to stay in Bellum. He had no home. No family. That night he left for the kingdom, Iceberg. As the crossed the border a small child ran to him with tears in his eyes begging him to come save his mommy. Nicholas followed the child to a great chasm in which his mother could be seen dangling on the other side. The first question that arrived in his mind was: “How did she even get over there...”
He stood still pondering the question as she clung to the cliff and in one split second, his mind was made. He turned around and shot a gust of wind strong enough it would propel him to the other side. He ran to the woman, grabbed her hand and pulled her up. She shook his hand hiding her face thanking him. She reached into her pocked and pulled out a box with a lock. “This is a thank-you gift from the Mayor of Iceberg kingdom. Use it well, but first you must find someone who can open it.”
She manipulated the ice around her to form an ice make bridge to cross the chasm. Why didn't she do that earlier? Nicholas gratefully accepted the gift slightly irritated by the fact the woman didn't just save herself instead of risking both of their lives.
Nicholas left the woman and her child and continued his life as a 10 year old vagabond. His travels led him to Bosco. He set his sights on Seven. The kingdom where his parents were last seen. When he arrived at the border that divides Bosco from Seven, he was stopped by a man who said he was from a guild, Beings of Profectus. The man told Nicholas no one had been in Seven for years. Nicholas, being the stubborn child he always was, completely disregarded the man with a faint smile and continued on his way.
He entered the first village to the laughter and screams...of stark silence. Not a single soul could be seen nor heard in that town and it was in that moment he realized, maybe the man was right. And if no one was left in all of Seven, where did they go?
He returned to the man and apologized for his disrespectful actions. The man sunk into a shadow and fled from Nicholas, bolting down the street in the form of black silhouette. Nicholas followed him, following the 2-dimensional being to a guild house where an entire guild was waiting for him. Nicholas took two steps back when one man stood tall above the rest and lifted his hand high in the air. The parasol that was given to Nicholas flew from his bag to the man's hand. “Hey! Give that back!” Nicholas yelled to the man.
“Come get it.” The man turned on his heels and went back inside leaving Nicholas to deal with the mass of guild members in front of him. They charged and Nicholas ran, looping around buildings and leaping over fences and cars. He began to smile, he loved when his wits and strength were tested. He looked at his rings, smiled, and let the guild “chase” him to a confined area where he then screamed with a wicked smile, “Ring of Wave: Verizon Flood!” He flood the area around him leaving everyone to fend for themselves in the water. “Ring of Wave: Aqua-jet!” He bolted through the water and found a way out, trapping the guild inside. He released the flood and left the guild gasping for air.
He looped back around to their guild house to face the master. The guild master greeted him with a smile and handed him back the parasol except, this time, there was no lock. “Go to Fiore, and find Fairy Tail.” The guild master then vanished into the air, leaving Nicholas astonished by the sights his eyes just observed. Intrigued and left with nothing to do, nowhere to go, he followed the man's orders and left for Fiore in a search for Fairy Tail.
He reached Fiore in a matter of days and when he reached the border, he decided it would be best to open the gift now. Another ring was nestled in a soft cushion in the small package with a snowflake and a note attached that read: “Ring of Ice.” He prepared for his fate, and slipped the ring on knowing fully what was to come only this time, a light was shot into the sky which burst, similar to that of a firework, and formed the shape of the snowflake on the ring.
He wandered the streets of Fiore until he saw a boy of his age racing down the street using his ice magic in a fervent attempt to get away from a group of people pursuing him. Nicholas followed, remaining out of sight, to watch the story unfold. When all hope seemed lost for the boy, as he was trapped on both sides by the group pursuing him, another equally large group “fell from the sky” to the boy's rescue. Not much could be heard from where Nicholas was hiding but two words that did catch his attention were loud enough the be heard across Fiore: Fairy Tail. Nicholas followed them to their guild and later that night he wandered inside, asking for admittance to this famous guild. Nicholas became a member at the age of 14.
