There is nothing worse than going to a public high school. Two words: petty bitches. I drag Landon out of the bus after arriving to our rival's school.
"Come on, child, I don't have all day. You are ruining my sleep schedule." I mutter, tugging on Landon's shirt.
"Sorry." Landon helps as he runs into Lizzie, who was trying to make an entrance. I roll my eyes.
"Let's just get this shit over with." I suggest, heading to the doors. I roll my eyes as the cheerleaders all do some weird cultish shit.
"Lili, let's go." Hope calls, bringing my attention to her and Landon in the hallway.
Landon rambles about his days in this school while Hope and I just look around, trying to find Dana's friends.
"I'm sorry." A group of girls walk up to us. "Is this loser bothering you guys?"
"Yeah, uh, actually he keeps trying to get me to buy his mixtapes." Hope replies smoothly; I raise my eyebrows impressed.
The girls look at me, so I just nod. Landon looks at me. "But-"
"Hungry?" The girls ask.
"Famished." Hope says. I smirk as we leave Landon in the hall, looking like a fish. The girls lead us to a lunch room, and I give Hope a side glance. "What now?"
"Ask them about Dana." I mumble. "Oh shit." I remember what Alaric told me to do. "I gotta find Landon."
Hope nods, leaving me to run off to find the stowaway. "You have the job of babysitting Landon." I mumble, mocking Alaric's voice.
I figured that Landon would probably stuffed in some locker or toilet, so, naturally I walk into the boys bathroom. "Alright douchenozzles, where is Landon?" I shout as I walk in the bathroom.
Hm. No Landon.
I walk back out into the halls and turn the corner to see Landon punching his bully in the face, but skin comes off in the process.
"What the hell?!" I shout as Landon turns around and runs towards me. "Dammit, get out of here Landon!"
I start sirening to see if I could get into this weird creature bully things conscious, but it didn't seem to be working. It just starts walking towards me, making me question why I just stood there.
"Hey, buddy, mind giving me a head start?" I mumble, backing up. It suddenly runs off, so I follow it. "Okay, not so much buddy then." I say to myself.
I raise an eyebrow and follow the weird spider kid thing, realizing it was heading towards the forest. What could it possibly be doing?
Just as I'm about to go further, my phone starts ringing. Yes, Alaric gave me a phone because he knows what trouble I get into. "Oh, hey, Alaric!" I say, trying to steady my breathing.
"Why does it sound like you're running?" He asks suspiciously. "What's going on? What did you find about Dana?"
"Well you see, I lost Landon, so I had to go find him before he ran off-" I start before getting cut off my Alaric.
"Dammit, Liliana, you had one job." He states, sounding annoyed.
"Yeah, well, this is your fault." I reply, making an innocent face. "You thought it'd be a good idea I do this instead of sleeping. So, lesson learned, Ric: don't make me miss my naps. They are vital to my survival."
As Alaric rants to me about how I need to be more responsible and blah, blah, blah, I follow the creature to a weird abandoned house thing. "Woah." I whisper.
"What-"
"I'm gonna have to call you back." I say, ending the call. I look up at the building and start inching closer. And that's when I see it, Josie and Rafael are stuck in a giant web. "Oh no. Oh shit."
As the kid gets closer to the house, he starts morphing fully into a spider. "Okay, so Spider-Man is real, just not as hot as I thought." I say.
I slowly go towards the house, sneaking upstairs towards Josie and Raf. "Oh my gosh, are you guys alright?" I ask, going to touch Josie.
"No! Stop!" Josie whispers in a concerned tone. "You'll get caught in the web."
"Well that's just fucking great." I say sarcastically, standing awkwardly. I mean, what can I do now. "How do I get you out?"
All of the sudden we hear a giant pounding from above us. We slowly look up and Josie screams. "Hey douchebag!" I hear.
"What. An. Idiot." I mumble, slowly glancing at Landon. "How the hell are you even here?" I ask him.
"Uh..." He trails off before Hope walks in.
"I hate spiders." She grumbles before looking at it. The spider heads towards her, looking as angry as a spider can look.
"Quick, we have to get you out." I say to Josie. "Siphon your magic from me." I tell her.
"I can't, you'll get stuck." She says, looking at me nervously.
I glance down at her lips. "Unless..." I mumble. She looks at me and realizes what I'm implying. I walk up to her and grab her face in my hands, kissing her.
Her hands turn red, meaning that her siphoning is working. We pull apart as Josie gets out of the web, destroying the webs holding Rafael.
She glances at me curiously, but I just look away and towards Hope. "Let's go." I say, running downstairs to Hope. "Raf, get Dana's friend from the web!"
"Hurry! Hold on to my hands and repeat after me!" Hope yells as the spider inches closer. I hold onto Josie's hand, knowing she could siphon more magic out of me.
As they repeat the spell over and over, I feel myself getting tired from all the siphoning. Before I can collapse in exhaustion, the spider explodes, leaving all four of us covered in spider insides.
"Gross." I say. We all look at each other, nodding as if to say 'damn we're good at this'. "Let's bounce."
We walk out of the building, looking disgusting but also badass. The three guys look at us in awe.
That's right kids. We just blew up Spider-Man.
