Josie and I sat in the library as I caught up on homework and she read a book. Nothing could be more awkward than this.

"Josie." Hope walks up to us and looks at me surprised.

"This was a decision made for me." I defend myself, rolling my eyes.

"Okay... Um, Josie. I need to talk to you about Lizzie." Hope says, fumbling with her hands. I raise an eyebrow.

"Touchy subject?" I ask. This causes me to smirk as I come up with a devious plan to get rid of Josie.

"What is this about? You and Lizzie are best friends now?" Josie asks before glancing down at her book.

"Well, actually, I think something is really wrong and she's on the verge of something bad." Hope replies.

"Woah, slow down a second. You are telling me that you and Lizzie are friends now? Okay, for the 1% of me that cares... why?" I ask.

Josie nods in my direction. "Yeah, you better just stay away."

"Josie, she's your sister." Hope says. She takes a seat next to me and I give her an annoyed glance. "What?"

"Personal space... I could use some." I reply.

Josie looks at Hope. "She does this to herself. She doesn't take her medication because she doesn't like the way that it makes her feel. So she tries to distract herself, or release her inner bitch. But all of these things are delaying the inevitable. Letting her crash is the only way any of this can be fixed."

Hope looks down and gets up, leaving. Josie glances at the ground guiltily. Our eyes meet for a split second before I quickly look away. When did Josie become so... well... not Josie?

I glance at her again. "Can you stop?" Josie asks, not even glancing at me.

"You want to play that game, Jo?" I ask sarcastically. "You have been following me since I've gotten back from the woods. And now this fucking stunt you pulled to be-to be my... therapist? No... no my fucking babysitter? I mean, seriously! How about you stop."

She glares at me and gets up from the chair she was sitting on and walks up to me. I raise an eyebrow as she puts a hand on the arm of the sofa I'm sitting on, snapping her book shut by my face with her other hand. "I care about you, Liliana. So don't you dare think I'm going to be just ignoring the fact that you aren't okay. I may have lost my sister, but I won't lose you. So, no, I won't stop." She says, looking down at me with an adamant expression.

My heart skips a beat before I look away and slightly squirm. Josie is different and I don't know how to feel about that. She moves away from me and starts to grab some of my books. "Let's go. You need some sleep. You've got a long day tomorrow."

I frown and get up, following her to my room. This is going to be a long week.

Okay. Let's make one thing clear. No one, I repeat, no one wakes me up in the middle of the night.

My eyes squeeze shut as I angrily push my head under my pillows to try and block out the noise coming from down the hall.

"What the hell?" I mumble as I get out of bed, sliding on some slippers. My heartbeat picks up as I hear a loud thump. I quickly open the door and make my way towards the noise.

I hear a door slam shut and quickly following Josie Saltzman walking down the hall. I try to head back to my room, but these stupid floorboards are so damn loud.

"Who is that?" Josie calls out. I turn around and wave awkwardly. "Lili? What are you doing? It's the middle of the night?"

I begin trying to think up a lie, but I'm too tired. What the hell would I even come up with anyway... "Uh..." Then, the ultimate comeback comes to mind. "What are you doing?" Okay... maybe not so ultimate.

She walks up to me so that I can see clearly that she had to have been crying. "Lili..." She frowns and shakes her head.

"Are you-are you crying?" I ask, regretting it immediately, cringing at myself for even feeling any concern.

"What? No. Go back to bed." She replies, dragging me back to my room.

"Listen, unless you're leading me to a stash of vodka, hands off honey. But seriously, do you have any?" I ask.

"Josie." I hear a deep voice call. I look over my shoulder and see Alaric with Lizzie. "We need to talk. Lili, get back to sleep."

I roll my eyes, but wave at Josie goodbye with a sarcastic smirk. Now... to find the vodka...

"Morning, Lili." MG walks into my room and rips the pillow from my grip that kept sunshine from reaching my face.

"No." I reply, wrapping myself into a burrito of blankets.

"I've got something for you." He says in a cheerful voice.

"If you say that a little less cheerfully and if you please would shut the blinds, I may acknowledge you. Maybe." I mumble, peeking one eye open as MG shuts the blinds.

"Breakfast... and your favorite coffee from Mystic Falls." He smiles, handing me a tray of pancakes and of course, the best coffee in town.

"What the hell, MG? Why did you do this? Now I owe you something..." I groan, but immediately begin eating.

"I felt bad about the whole... meltdown-"

"If one more person calls it a meltdown, they can kiss this world goodbye." I say, pointing my fork at him threateningly.

"Sorry... well Josie wanted me to tell you that she'd be here in an hour, so be ready then." He says before leaving.

"jOsIe WAnTEd mE to TELl-" I mock. What a suck up.

"Wait, what? How come no one has told me this?" I yell at Hope as she sits on my bed with a worried expression.

"We didn't no what happened to Landon, but now it's pretty obvious. He left a message that totally was a sign, I mean, he wanted us to know, I didn't-"

"Hope. Where. Is. He." I ask, looking at her seriously.

She sighs. "Triad."

I immediately get up. "Well what the hell are we doing here?! We need to go-"

"I'm telling you this because you can't." Hope replies, standing up and looking into my eyes.

"What are you talking about? Yes, I'm going." I reply, raising an eyebrow. I walk to my closet and grab some shoes. "Let's go."

"No." Hope says. I turn around and glare at her. "Not with your whole recent thing that has happened. It's too dangerous. What if you lose control?"

I glare at her again, walking up to her with anger. "If I lose control, you can bet that Triad would be wiped out of existence in about five seconds." My eyes glow an amber color as I get angrier.

"I'm sorry, Lili." She mumbles before walking out of my room.

"I'm going." I say to myself as I slam my closet door shut.

"That's funny, considering I would have to be with you." I turn around to see Josie leaning into my door frame.

"Well, then I guess we're going." I smile sarcastically as I brush past her.

She grabs my arm and stops me, still facing my bedroom. She turns around and smiles at me, "You're right. We are going. But you are going to be with me the whole time."

I roll my eyes. "Whatever."

•••

"She's coming?" Josie and Lizzie say simultaneously as the Hope gathers us all together.

"I'm gonna need you both to put your twin war aside because I need all the help I can get." Hope replies, smiling.

"Let's go kick some Triad ass." I smirk.
