Newt was frantically trying to reach (Y/N) but he couldn't. The last thing he heard from her was an agonizing scream which broke his heart.

"Hans!" He yelled.

Hans was looking at the tablet at his hand. It was one that he found in the Flat Trans and it was showing (Y/N)'s vitals. It actually alerted him of how she was doing. Here heartbeat was frantic and moving faster and faster, until it stopped and Hans heard a long beep which made him pale.

"We have to get back there. NOW!" Hans ordered them.

"What happened?" Aris asked as they started to run.

"(Y/N) was feeling stronger and healthier," Hans started to explain.

"Wasn't that a good thing?" Gally chimed in.

"No it isn't," he replied. "She shouldn't have used up all that energy and rested. Because her heart rate got faster and faster. Using all of the energy that she had left and now her heart's not beating."

Newt looked back with a pale expression on his face which is reflected on everyone else's. Still, Newt didn't lose hope. He couldn't and he doesn't want to. They got through this the last time, he believed that they can get through this too.

Newt then felt the walkie talkie vibrating and he heard a voice. He was hopeful that it was (Y/N), but it wasn't.

"Newt!" It was Harriet.

"Who's that?" Hans asked.

"Harriet," Newt replied. Hans motioned for Newt to give him the walkie talkie and he did what he was told.

"Harriet it's me Hans." He didn't give her time to reply and immediately told her what she needs to do. "I need you to start up (Y/N)'s heart. Let it beat again. Do CPR, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, remember?"

"Y-Yeah."

Newt heard the anxiety in Harriet's voice. He was worried for her and scared for (Y/N). He wished that he was there, comforting Harriet and trying to help out as much as he can. But he guessed that it was better that he was here. He doesn't even know what CPR is and how to do it. He also just might make a mess there.

Of course, Newt's been in stressful situations and has had a life and death situation many times as much as he remembers. But he feels as if this was different somehow. Because it isn't just any of his good friends, it's (Y/N). The girl that he loves and the girl who loves him back. The girl who seemed vulnerable and invincible at the same time.

"How are things going there?" Hans asked, releasing Newt from his stupor.

"Jack is the one doing CPR on (Y/N). I'm not strong enough to restart her heart," Harriet explained. She sounded worried and anxious. Newt thought that maybe Harriet couldn't handle it. He really grateful that Jack's there. That he's there for both his girls.

"How is she?" Newt asked Hans.

"Just a little more pressure," he replied. "Her heart is beating again, but it's slowing down."

"Are we almost there?" Thomas asked Minho who was at the front of the line since he was in charge of memorizing the way out.

Newt looked at Minho, waiting for his reply. He could see that the boy was in his element. He can see that he missed this. Living in the Glade, trying to find a way out for years might've been a pain, but there was also something that's addicting about it. Something that could make you miss it. Newt didn't miss the thrill of running in that Maze, but he could see that Minho did and he's enjoying the chance that he's got to do something like it again.

"Yeah," was the only thing Minho said.

It took them three hours and a half to get there, but they were just walking. They were taking things slow, walking as if they were in a park. But they needed to get out of there in only a few minutes, Newt just hopes that they aren't too late.

"When her heart restarts," Newt started, "how much time does she have?"

"It's hard to say," Hans replied. "We just need her heart beating until we get there so that we can inject the virus and hope for the best." Hans then placed the walkie talkie to his face. "Harriet talk to me."

"She's breathing," this voice was no longer Harriet's, it's Jack's and he sounds exhausted. "Her heart's beating again and Harriet's the one trying to keep it that way for now."

"Good job. Tell Harriet to rest after two minutes, we don't want (Y/N)'s ribs to break."

"Copy."

"Good job you two. Keep up the good work." Hans placed the walkie talkie back in his pocket and continued on running.

"STOP!" Minho suddenly ordered.

Everyone did as they were told, but they were all curious. Everyone was agitated, Newt could see that. They were in a hurry and Minho told them all to stop. But Minho placed a finger on his lips, telling them to be quiet and listen. After a few seconds, the ceiling started to fall and the walls started to crack. Everyone made a run for it.

Hans looked up and saw that Newt was at the very front. Despite the limp, he's still a really fast runner. Hans saw that if there was anyone who had the chance to get back to (Y/N), it was him. Hans passed down the virus towards Newt who took it.

Suddenly the ceiling, or what's left of it, fell down and it separated the group. Everyone was in the other side of the building, everyone but Newt. The others were trapped, except for Newt.

Newt stopped running because the building seemed stable for the time being once again. "Guys!" He yelled.

"Don't worry about us!" Hans commanded. "We can get out of here. Just go to (Y/N) and save her!"

Newt didn't need to be told twice.
