Groaning, I feel pain splintering in my head. As I look around, I realise I'm not in my bedroom. The room is pitch black, and I'm tied to a chair, my mouth gagged.
Then I start to remember what happened.
Raiden and I at the club.
Seeing Maddox.
Dancing with Maddox.
Stealing his phone.
Going outside.
Maddox appearing.
Running away and being chased by Hulks.
And finally, being successfully kidnapped.
Where the hell is Raiden? Is he okay? I try to speak, but the only noise that comes out is muffled incoherent mumbling. I look around, trying to get a hint at what time it is, where we are, or something. But it's impossible.
I close my eyes and slip into unconsciousness.

"Oi! Wake up!" A stinging pain in my cheek.
Blearily, I open my eyes. Before me stands a man. He looks as if he's in his early forties, and an older version of Maddox.
This man takes off the gag. I glare at him. "Did you seriously slap me?"
He stares at me, amusement on his face. "Yes."
"That wasn't very nice."
"I'm not a very nice person, sweetheart." There's a threatening edge to his words.
"Considering I'm sitting in a cell tied to a chair, with no food or drink, I thought you were a fucking lovely person." I retort, not bothering to hide my sarcasm.
He slaps me again. Guess he didn't like my sarcasm. "Shut up, you little bitch."
"Where's my friend? Is he okay?" I demand.
"Yes yes, he's fine. For now." The man smirks.
"For now?" I repeat, glaring at him.
"It's up to you whether he lives or not. If you do what I say, then he won't be harmed. Defy me, he'll be dead in a second. Understand?" He looks straight into my eyes.
I nod. "What's your name?"
"John Kain."
"So you are Maddox's father." I mutter.
"Yes, and Callan's uncle." He spits Callan's name.
So it seems someone isn't a fan of Callan's. "Hang on. You have a different surname to Callan. His surname is Finch and yours is Kain."
"Ah, yes. Callan has his mother's maiden name rather than his father's." John's voice was bitter at the mention of Callan's father. Guess he didn't like Callan's father. But Callan's father is dead... "Anyway, let's not waste any time! We are going to call your dear boyfriend."
"No."
"Do you want your friend to live?" John threatens.
"Yes." I whisper.
"That's what I thought. As I said, we are going to call Callan and have a little chat." John repeats.
"Can I have a drink of water first? Then I'll do what you want." I plead.
He stares at me, then turns around. "Get the girl a glass of water."
"Yes sir." Someone replies, and hands John a drink of water. John unties my hands. I reach up and take the glass, sculling the water down.
"Okay, let's get on with it." John says, handing the glass to someone. He then unties my feet and the rope around my stomach, allowing me to stand up.
He grabs my forearm roughly, dragging me behind him into a lounge room. Shoving me down onto the couch, he sits beside me. "Unlock your phone and dial Callan's number. Then pass the phone to me." John orders.
Maddox walks in and sits opposite us. Glaring hatefully at him, I do as I'm told. I hear some mumbling on the phone, and John laughs. "It depends on how generous you're feeling, Callan."
I try to listen to what's being said on the other side, and fail miserably. "Should I really spare her, after what your father did to me? Huh? Why should I Callan? Meet me at the warehouse in two days. Alone. Two o'clock sharp. If you want her to live. Goodbye Callan." John hangs up, placing my phone back on the table. He looks at Maddox and grins. "We'll finally get our revenge! That little bastard will get what he deserves."
"Good." Maddox laughs cruelly, grinning back at John.
Glancing between them, I frown. "Revenge?"
They both look at me, as if they forgot I was here. "All in good time, Jesse. All in good time."
"Can I see Raiden?" I ask.
"Yeah sure, you can spend your last days together." John laughs.
"Last days?" My voice shakes.
"Yeah sweetheart, you heard me. You'll be dead in two days." John shows no remorse or guilt.
Great. Raiden was right. "What about Raiden?" I frown.
"He'll live. He's of no importance to me. You however, do."
"I want the truth before you kill me." I snap. "I'm sick of everyone telling me "In good time.", "It's for your own safety." It's the least you could do."
John stares at me, surprised. "Wait. You have no idea? You honestly have no idea!" He laughs loudly. "Oh, this is good! This is gold!"
"Oh this is so funny! Can I just fucking see Raiden already?" I snap at him, losing what little patience I momentarily had.
John gestures to some guy. "Take her to see the boy. Lock her up in there, too."
"Yes sir." The guy, who I recognise as one of the Hulks who kidnapped us, grabs my forearm and drags me back down the corridor, turning on the lights as we walk. We stop outside a cell, where I see Raiden curled up into a ball.
"Raiden!" I gasp as I'm shoved into the cell. The Hulk geezer locks the door and walks away.
"Jesse!" Raiden cries, running at me and hugging me tightly. "What's going on? Are you okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine! Are you okay? Have they hurt you?" I cry.
"No! No they haven't hurt me! Tell me everything, now!" Raiden demands.
For the millionth time, I yet again tell Raiden the most recent encounter. "Right. So whatever happened, it definitely involves something that happened with Callan and his father." Raiden frowns.
"But his father is dead." I state. "So why do they want revenge?"
"I don't know Jesse, I don't know." Raiden sighs.
"I'm sorry for dragging you into this Raiden. At least you'll live."
Raiden grabs my chin, forcing me to look into his eyes. "Listen Jesse, I won't allow you to die. Understand?"
"Just forget about it for now, okay? They'll tell us what's going on soon." I say quietly.
"Jesse-" Raiden starts.
"Don't. I'm tired and I want to sleep and forget about all of this shit, okay?"
"Okay." Raiden says softly. He picks me up and carries me to the bed, wrapping his arms around me and holding me close. "Sleep." Is the last thing I hear before I allow the black to swallow me again.
