Clary woke to the noise of Jake playing in his room. With a moan she rolled over and instead of finding Jace she felt something crinkle in her ear. She slowly opened her eyes and saw it was a note. She smiled to herself as she sat up to read the note:

Dear herondale.. Mrs that is;

I have decided upon myself to go alone to Roberts funeral as i didn't want simon to have the satisfaction of seeing you, that and the fact that i don't think you'll fit in your white mourning clothes at the minute.

Yours truly, one very dead husband.

Clary smiled at the note. She was angry that Jace had woken up and snook off to a funeral without her but at the same time she was relieved she wouldn't have to go and talk about how much Robert meant to her. It wasn't that she didn't like or respect Robert but she just didn't really ever talk to him. And the way simon had been with her the day before she didn't want to talk him particularly ever again. And besides. She needed to get some training in. She was still heavily pregnant but it gave her an excuse to spend the day with her giddy six year old. With a smile she pulled herself from her bed.

"Where's Clary?" Izzy asked glumly as she sat at one of the round tables the silent brothers had set up for them. "Morning sickness" Jace said with a shrug. He knew he shouldn't be annoyed at izzy for Simons behaviour but he couldn't help it. "I know it's hard to take in with the fact dad was never really around anyway Jace but there's no need to take it out on me" she said angrily and Jace was about to snap back when simon approached them. He was wearing white and even Jace had to say it didn't suit him. But it was an improvement on the shadow hunting gear. Instead of looking at Isabelle like Jace expected him to he came straight over to him. Jace was surprised by the fact that simon hadn't bothered to get rid of the bruises on his face. That must of meant something right, but every time Jace saw simon now he was just reminded of how he had pushed over his pregnant wife. He promised in his wedding vows to never let anything bad happen to her and yet here he was. Out thinking of himself whilst simon was attacking his wife. A flush of rage gathered in Jace. Hatred for what simon had done to Clary and hatred at himself for not being there to prevent it. "Where's Clary?" Simon asked as he looked around frantically. "WHERE'S CLARY!" Jace shouted as people walking by stopped and stared. "Look Jace" simon said and Jace couldn't help but notice the surprise on izzy's face. So simon hadn't told her. That much was clear. "No you listen" Jace said cutting simon off mid rant. "I want you no where near Clary. If you know whats good for you i suggest you go back to the institute and stay there forever, so no one has to put up with your abuse" and before Jace could get another word in strong arms were pulling him backwards through the crowd. But Jace kept eye contact with simon up until he plunged into the crowd of people.

"What was Jace on about?" Izzy asked as she turned to face simon. "Nothing" he said waving his hand as he began to walk away. "Simon!" Izzy called after him and he sighed. How could he tell her what had happened, he could hardly believe it himself. He needed to find Clary and tell her what had happened and that it was an accident. As for Jace, he suspected he would never trust him around Clary ever again. But maybe it was what he deserved. "What" simon said un kindly and tried to make his tone softer and happier. "I'm sorry iz" he said as he carried on walking. "Sorry, for what? And where are you going?" She asked quizzically as she struggled to keep up with him. "I'm sorry for everything and i'm going to the institute. I need to find Clary" he said and before she had time to talk to him he plunged into the crowd of shadow hunters and walked away.

"What in the angel was that?" Alec asked as he spun Jace around, they were stood to the entrance of the silent brothers domain and Jace knew that somewhere in there was Roberts body. Being burnt after their ceremony they had made for him. His ashes being stirred and ground into the very marble that made the structure. "You where there!" Jace said angrily as he looked up at Alec. Who looked like he hadn't slept. And to be fair he bet he looked the same. After what happened that night Jace had gone outside and kicked the wall until his foot was numb. Suppressed tears bubbled up and over when he was in the heart of his own home in the comfort of his family and he hadn't tried to wipe them away. He knew that Clary could see straight through him so why bother. He had then come in to a heart warming picture of his wife looking pale and tired eyed with their son asleep across her lap. She was stroking his hair and as Jace sat down in front of them. Not wanting to wake Jake she had put her hand in his hair and calmed him. It was weird how small movements such as the flick of a wrist had the ability to calm his whole body down. And how even the flash of thigh was enough to heat his whole body up. He had spent the night watching his beautiful wife sleep and eventually had carried them both to bed at the same time. It was good in some ways that Clary wasn't that tall. It allowed him to carry them both together. After he had tucked her into bed he sat outside until morning and then had slipped off to the funeral. "Are you even listening?" Alec asked him and then snorted. "You know what forget it! I guess i should of left you to probably beat him up again what do i care" he said with a shrug and before Jace could comfort him he turned on his heel and stalked back the way they had come.
