"When Jace see's you he's gonna have to pick his jaw up off the floor" izzy squealed excitedly from the mirror. Clary sighed loudly, izzy wasn't usually like this but Clary's guessed surprise baby showers did this to a girl. She was nervous as she looked up at herself in the mirror. Only to be taken back by what she saw. She was wearing a simple gold dress that ended low down her leg. It was a simple strapped dress that shimmered elegantly in the light, her eyes seemed full and ominous in the mirror and she admired the skill of her makeup. The simple flicks and curls of mascara and eyeliner. She had to admit, she looked stunning. She looked back in the mirror at a happy looking izzy, but as she met the girls gaze, a frown appeared in the middle of her face.
"You left my godchild with Jace" she said horridly, as if remembering something she had lost. Clary almost laughed as she rose from the chair in izzy's smoky room. It ha been a while since the institute room had been occupied and a layer of grime and dust seemed to coat the room, making Clary's face permanently scrunch up in attempts not to sneeze.
"He's a twenty five year old man izzy, i'm pretty sure he's capable of looking after a baby" but even as she she said it Clary's head filled with doubts. "On second thought, maybe we should head off to the party". Izzy simply smiled at Clary and shook her head.
"There's hope for us all" izzy said sarcastically as she made her way towards the door. Clary took in a deep breath and readied herself for what lay ahead. As much as she had pushed Jace and told him she was fine and ready for this party. She wasn't. She still felt sore and tired from everything that had occurred between the last couple of days, and she could feel fatigue creeping in. But she was waiting for all the people to meet up, she missed a lot of old friends and couldn't wait to show off her family, as long as she kept both Jace and Jake In constant sight. With a small smile she set off after izzy, excitement buzzing around her.
Jace sat at one of the tables in the old barn house looking bored. He had been waiting in the midst of a party for nearly half an hour now and boredom was seriously kicking him up the ass. The only thing to help pass the time was watching Jocelyn on the dance floor. Twirling round carelessly with Charlotte wrapped in her arms motherly. Jace smiled as charlotte began to giggle cutely. She had been in the world only three days and already Jace was purely in love, sure he would do anything in the world to protect her. He was about to rise to his feet to join Jocelyn and take his little girl back when the doors to barn swung open. And through the thick crowded mass of people Jace caught a glimpse at the most beautiful thing her had ever seen, Clary was striding into the barn laughing innocently at something izzy must of said, she was wearing a gold dress that showed the brightness of her eyes wonderfully. And even from a distance Jace was sure she was the most beautiful person he had seen so far. Izzy whispered something to Clary as the approached which made Clary laugh even more, a stunning flash of white teeth as her face lit up, making her even more beautiful than he thought possible. As she caught Jace's stare she waved sarcastically and he realised he had been staring at her the whole time it had taken Her to reach him.
"Jace, i think you left an eye on Clary's dress"izzy said with a laugh as she left the two alone and seemed to spot someone in the crowd as she wondered away without a trace. Clary was staring at him with a smile as he spun back round to face her.
"What?" Jace asked confusingly and this just seemed to make her smile even more.
"Nothing" she said shaking her head slightly. "You look handsome" she said shyly and Jace found himself laughing.
"I look pretty" he stammered through disbelief. "Please tell me you got a look in the mirror before you came out?" He asked with a shaky laugh and Clary seemed to blush even more, but then the smile fell from her face as she seemed to remember something.
