Kenzi POV: (about four months later)

I woke up in my small purple bed, swinging my legs out over the edge of the furniture and standing up. My long auburn hair was matted and tangled, making me groan as I knew it would be a nightmare to fix it. I shuffled in my pajamas to the kitchen of the little Victorian styled house Granna and I lived in, in downtown Kingston.

"Oh you're up, Mackenzie." Granna smiled at me. "I made some cinnamon rolls for breakfast. The one with raisins, your favorite!"

"Ooh yummy!" I grinned, practically running over to the rolls and dumping half of them onto my plate. I sat down across from Granna, taking a bite of the cinnamon rolls, letting the amazing gooey yummy-ness melt into my taste buds.

"So." I inquired through a mouthful of food. "What's the occasion?"

"What occasion?" Granna smiled innocently, a twinkle in her grey eyes.

"You never make these unless something important is going on." I teased. "So spill the beans."

"Well...I got the mail this morning..." Granna mused. "And you got your acceptance letter from St. Friedrich's Specials University."

"Oh the one where all the witches and wizards go, right?" I exclaimed happily.

"Yes. I knew you'd be happy." Granna beamed at me. Suddenly her face grew morbid and serious. "However other supernatural beings go to school there too so you must be careful. Werewolves and Sirens, vampires and Elves. Stay with your own kin and you'll be fine."

"Yes of course, Granna!" I squealed in delight.

(Two weeks later)

I smiled as I stepped onto the campus of St. Friedrich's University, my stomach in a bundle of nerves, my heart racing in my chest.

"Oh, Mackenzie there you are!" I heard Granna call out. "I ran into some old friends!" I looked behind her to see a mother and father walking behind a young girl, who looked to be about my age. The girl was short and had dark chocolate colored skin and black hair, along with hazel eyes shaped like round almonds.

"This is Talzia, and her parents, Mark and Briune." Granna smiled as she introduced the family. "We found out that Talzia is your roommate! Isn't that exciting!"

"Yes it is!" I giggled.

As the day progressed, Talzia and I walked around the campus, greeting all the teachers of the university.

We came across one of the more human buildings, the science building, and we stepped inside, touring the area slowly. We peeked our heads into one of the classrooms, and I stared at all the medical equipment in awe.

"This must be a medical classroom for Sirens and Werewolves." Talzia murmured. "Only a few witches ever take this class." The door flew open behind us, and a tall man with dark brown hair and a chin strap beard and mustache stepped in, his eyes twinkling as they met mine. Something stirred within me, and my hand flew to my neck, my eyes narrowing a the man.

"Oh I'm sorry, can I help you two ladies?" He smiled at us. His voice stirred my stomach and made me blush.

"We were just looking around." Talzia responded politely.

"We didn't mean to bother you, sir." I added in a soft voice. The man smiled a somewhat sad smile at me, confusing me.

"It's fine." He murmured, gazing into my eyes.

"Well we'll just be on our way then." Talzia nodded goodbye to him.

"If you ever need anything feel free to ask me, ladies," he called to us as we turned to leave. "My name is Dr. Grant Lewis, professor of mythological medicinal studies."
