"Hi, I'm here to pick up an order for Antonia?"
The guy at the kiosk looks very bored. "Alright, miss. You might have to wait a little bit. We're still making that one."
"Okay."
Sawyer and I sit down at one of the tables lining the windows, and I start to fold up clean-looking napkin that was on the table.
"Hey Faye?" he mutters.
"Mmhmm?"
"Did you like me before we discovered the brain voices?"
I feel my cheeks and neck immediately heat up. "Well, you- you could say that."
He smiles. "Good, 'cause I didn't want this to be one-sided."
I cock my head. "What do you mean by 'this'?"
"Well," he says, fidgeting. "I was hoping that you would like me back so that maybe we could start dating soon...?" His words get softer and quieter by the second.
I smirk, raising an eyebrow at him. "What was that? I couldn't hear you."
He flushes and looks at his hands. "I was wondering if you would..."
I lean forward. "If I would what?"
Seeming to have regained his confidence, he matches my stance and states, "If you would be my girlfriend."
Our faces are an inch appart and I can feel his breath on my lips.
Can I kiss you? murmurs his voice in my head.
Not if I kiss you first.
