I get to the front doors of the school five minutes early, just like Faye would have.
Today is our last day of grade twelve, and everyone is pumped.
Everyone but me.
Faye won't be able to go to the ceremony and wear the dress that matches my tie. She won't be able to party until the sun sets. She won't be able to go to Carly Shinnigan's end-of-summer party that happens every year.
And it's all because someone ran a red light.
I get to my locker and drop my stuff off. While heading to my class, I hear a conversation as I pass by.
"-and she's been in she hospital ever since."
The other person scoffs. "Good riddance, am I right?"
My body acts before I do, grabbing the person's shirt and shoving them up against a wall.
"What did you say?" I snarl.
They look me up and down. "And who are you? Her boyfriend?"
"Actually, I am. And if you want to have a jaw to talk with, I would keep your mouth shut."
I can see the fear in their eyes when I back up, and I can feel the boiling pot if anger in my chest start to spill.
