Tears start to well in my eyes. "Hey Sawyer," I say, my voice barely above a whisper. "It's great to see you too."

He sits down in the seat next to my bed and takes my hand. "When are you going to be out of here?"

"Erm, that's complicated," says the doctor. "It depends on how her body heals. If it doesn't heal well, then she might be in here for another month."

I look over to him. "Have I missed grad?"

He smiles sadly. "No, it's tomorrow, but I'm not going."

"Why?"

"Because you aren't going. I'm going to stay here and spend my graduation day with my girlfriend."

I smile, and drop my voice to a whisper. "You know, I've heard all the things you've said to me," In my head.

He buries his face in his hands and groans. I give his arm a little squeeze. "They made me very happy."

He looks up at me, eyes sparkling. "I had hoped so."
