The Painted Oka was first released on June 22nd of 2015. They can come in all colors.

Acquisition

Painted Oka can be obtained by completing the Mystery Rock Postquest, Part 7. They were also reintroduced into Strays on August 14th of 2017 as part of a Old Pet Bonanza hybrid event. They can also be bred or purchased from other players.

Breeding

Breeding a pair of Painted Oka requires 1 green stone. They have 2-3 babies per litter and require 20 days to gestate. The gestation period can be lowered to 7 days by using pregnancy potions. They can be used to breed the Paintspot Oka hybrids.

Encyclopedia Entry

This Oka is a quick and powerful hunter. It catches its prey by running it down at a sprint. An adult Oka guards a large territory that it marks with its scent and patrols regularly. When it finds an invader in its territory, it usually chases it out. Okas newly on their own may have to wander for a while before they can establish their own territory.

Although it looks part rabbit, cat, and dog, studies show that this animal is probably most closely related to Buninas. Okas grow larger and have a more predatory lifestyle than their Bunina cousins. These animals can reach 90 miles an hour at a sprint, and as such as one of the fastest known creatures on four legs. The Oka almost always catches whatever it pursues. The Oka's speed also allows it to easily escape pursuit by any larger, slower beasts. If an Oka notices a large predator at a distance that it thinks might try to attack, it gives a call, rears up and faces the enemy, staring it down. The predator will then not pursue it, for it knows it has been seen and that there is no way it will catch it.

The painted Oka is a cousin species to the striped Oka. Both species grow larger than their spotted cousins, but unlike the striped Oka, the painted Oka is often found in wetter regions. These animals can reach 300 pounds, and yet are still extremely swift at a sprint due to their long legs. Unlike spotted Okas, they sometimes live in small prides like lions. Often they will cooperate when hunting, allowing them to bring much larger prey down.
