*Present day*

Isabelle's POV~

I look at the clock and it reads '10:00,' I decide Jerome should be up by now so I start to head towards the door. "Isabelle," I hear Sophia yell before I walk out. "Please come right back after the show tonight. I have a surprise for you." I give a quick nod before I walk out of our trailer and head for Jerome's.

"JEROME! I AM YOUR MOTHER AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME!" I hear Lila yell making me take a step back from the trailer.

"You are not my mother, Lila! Do your own damn dishes!" Jerome yells as he opens the door. When he slams the door he turns and sees me and stops. "Isabelle, I'm sorry if you heard any of that."

"Jerome," I don't know what to say so I decided to just walk over to him and hug him. "I'm sorry." His arms wrap around my shoulders since he is so tall and I am short compared to him.

Jerome is 6'0" while I am measly 5'5".

"Jerome do you want to talk about it?" I ask my voice a little muffled against his chest. I feel his arms tighten around me.

"No."

I pull away slightly and grab his hand then I start to walk towards the hill we always go sit at the top of when we are in Gotham. I make sure to sit him down first before I sit down next to him. Apparently, Jerome isn't having any of that though because he immediately pulls me onto his lap.

"Gorgeous, do you ever think what would've happened if your mother never died?"

I turn and look at him only to find him already looking down at me. "From time to time. I only know that I would have my mom back. I only hope that we would have still met in some way, Jerome."

He gives me a small smile, "I just wish my life was different sometimes." That, of course, makes me frown. "I wouldn't change anything regarding you though. Mostly my mom."

"Everything will get better Jerome."

"I know," he says grinning.

I look down at my watch and realize it is time for me to go help everyone get ready for their acts. "Jerome, I have to go and help everyone get set up." He nods in response and wraps his arms around me giving me a goodbye hug. But he lingered, which was odd for him.

*time skip*

I was helping everyone get set up before show time. But something felt off. Everyone seemed to act tense and as if something happened.

"Alright everyone, places." The Ringleader yells.

I run towards my usual spot in the crowd. And watch as all of the acts come and go. Finally, the Graysons came on and did their acrobatic act. Once they had finished and were bowing the Lloyds came out in their car and started to beat up the Graysons. Of course, this was probably due to Lila. None the less,  immediately I jump up and run to stop them but someone beat me to it.

"GCPD, everybody freeze," a man says holding up a police badge. Of course, they then started to clear everyone out of the room. I walked towards my trailer since Sophia told me that she had a surprise for me.

"Sophia," I call out as I walk into the trailer. But I don't hear a response. I start to look for her around the trailer, not having any luck with finding her. I know you're probably thinking that she could just be getting some food or be at Jerome's, but no, Sophia doesn't go out after the show starts unless she is with me. She hates all the drama around here.

I run out of the trailer not even bothering with my coat. I start to run over to Jerome's but I stop when I see the ringleader and Jerome talking to the man who stopped the fight and another woman I assume is with him. Jerome's eyes lock with mine, "Isabelle come here." I walk over and stand next to Jerome. "Have you seen Lila?"

That is so weird. "No, I actually was coming over here to ask if you've seen Sophia."

He pulls me close to him wrapping his arm around my shoulder, "they're probably off somewhere together than."

"But Sheba is distraught," I say and Jerome nods in agreement.

"The snake does seem agitated, let her out." The man says. Jerome does as he says and the snake starts to slither around heading away from us. The man leads the way as we start to follow the snake. Suddenly the snake started to slide up bales of hay onto the bed of a truck that is covered by a tarp.

The cop guy pulls back the tarp and we see Lila and Sophia covered in blood and not moving. At the sight my vision becomes blurry and I feel lightheaded. Jerome falls to his knees crying pulling me down with him. The woman comes over and starts to comfort us rubbing our backs.
