Those were pretty long stairs to climb. Seriously, who designed this? They were easily more than a hundred steps to the entrance of the temple! Gosh! Have mercy on my legs! I am wearing a summer dress and I am barefoot! I turned my head to the side and see that Christen is having the time of her life. Where did that torch come from? She is ever so mysterious.

"The torch, where did it came from?" I had to ask. She doesn't seem like she's carrying a pouch or a backpack.

"What do you mean?" Christen retorted as she tilted her head to the side. "I have had this torch from the very beginning. "Weird. I am pretty sure you didn't. Am I perhaps hallucinating stuff? I will just send her a weird glance and shrug my shoulders. At least I made her giggle. She must think I am such a weird girl by now.

It took more time that I believed to climb all the way to the entrance of the temple. For real, those stairs were a world-class calamity. Who makes them so small and so packed together! I almost fell like thirty times! I curse on the architects who designed this! My partner in crime seems to be unfazed. Now that I think about it, I never asked her what are we doing inside the temple or why did we even came here in the first place.

"U-um, Christen..." Why does my voice always come out as shy! Come on, girl! Be more assertive!

"Yes, Audrey? Is there something you need? Water? Food? A jacket?" Thank you for being so kind! You're like the kindest person I have ever met! Even if you're the first person I have met, that doesn't mean you are the kindest! You're like top priority! Yes. Number one of the number ones!

"I never asked because I just went with the flow, but... why are we here?" I asked as I looked around the place. The place was completely made out of stone. Some of the statues that ornamented the ruins were kind of lifelike. I could see jaded-eyed jaguars and tigers. There were pieces of hunters and warriors. It was a mysterious, yet alluring place.

"What do you mean?" She asked as she was lighting the torch with some sort of magic trick? Come to think about it, the physics here don't work correctly. How do physics work anyway? I mean, I thought deer were cute and fluffy, just to be almost eaten by some terror child of doom.

"You know, I never asked why did you wanted to come to the temple. Is there something of value here? Why did we put ourselves in danger to come to this desolated place?" Give me some answers, woman! I am in the verge of curiosity.

"Ah. Easy! There's a jewel inside that is said to fulfill the wishes of the one who holds it high!" She looked super excited! I got excited too! The mystery and allure of the unknown made me skip several steps and enter the mouth of the tomb. "Wait!" Christen tried to warn me about something.

"What's wrong?" I asked, but then I heard it. Rumbling sounds inside a ruin are never a good sign, are they? I slowly turned around and stared at what was happening. My eyes became wide as discs and my mouth closed tightly. I am trembling at what I am seeing. Sorry, Christen! May you forgive me in the afterlife because now I think that the ruins are angry.

I just witnessed the impossible. There was a sudden change in the place. That was...
