"We really need to do this?" My older brother rolled his eyes when we sat at the dinner table. "Why can't we just order a pizza or have a family dinner once a week like a normal family?!"
"Don't make it worse..." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Besides, let's talk about important things here." The young Vincent said being mature as always. "Why Victoria gets the bigger room again?!" "I wanted to hit his cute face.
"Great point Bao-Bao!" Victor agreed excited when daddy sat at the table. "Every house or apartment is the same thing!"
"You both don't start with that bullshit again!" I said angrily at them. "Any of you own a Christian Louboutin collection to have a walking closet?!" It was my time to protest. "It was a fair deal! Daddy gets the master bedroom, I get the room with the biggest walking closet, Victor Gege gets more space for his cars and Bao-Bao gets the toy room. If any of you aren't happy with you can just go back to Singapore."
"Geez, are you in your period?!" Victor asked earning a slap in the shoulder.
"I just can't see the point in you collecting those expensive clothes. I mean you never wear then twice anyway." Vincent said. "It's just a waste of money and space!"
"It's an investment, my closet is safeguarded in almost 50 million dollars." I took some rice to eat. "I won most of those clothes and people gave me money to wear then. You can say that I'm a kind of model."
"Besides everyone in this family has some sort of compulsive collections," Victor said with his mouth full of chicken. "You have your books and toys, Vickie has Prada bags and other expensive clothes, I have my cars and Rolex and Dad have divorce papers." Vincent spilled juice all over his polo shirt and I started to laugh.
"Joke now, but I stared with cars." Dad didn't even try to fight with us about that anymore.
"Oh, you guys already started?" A lady in her late 30s sat at the table next to my father. "The traffic here is horrible!"
"Who's that?!" I asked in a low voice to my brothers.
"I don't know!" Victor responded as confused as I was.
"I think dad married her last month," Vincent whispered looking disgusted. "I think I read an article about that when I was with mommy in Taiwan."
"We were in the Bahamas last month!" I said remembering my short vacation with Victor. "But still, he dates the same girl for a while before marrying her and I don't remember her face at all!"
"And when you do?" Victor rolled his eye. "Dad who's she?"
"What do you mean, who is she?" Dad tried to play us fool again. "She's your new mom!"
"She's at most 10 years older than me, I'm not calling her mom." Victor's face was getting red in anger. "And we already have our own mothers."
"So, how was the school, Vincent?" I asked loud changing the subject.
"Not that good." Well shit, I tried.
"Why not Bao-Bao?" Victors face change from passive anger to concern.
"The other kids don't talk to me and the Asian kids just ignored me." He didn't seem to care much about it.
"It's because you're fresh off the boat," Victor said as it was obvious. "Both of you are to 'Asian' even to the people who live in Chinatown."
"Sorry, was that to offend or to explain?" Vincent raised one eyebrow.
"I mean Vincent looks like the nerd Asian kid that use math to have fun and Victoria is the rich girl who came from who knows where to spend her parents' money." He could be a bitch when he wanted.
"Michinsaeki! (Asshole)" I said under my breath.
"Don't curse me, I can understand Korean, remember?" Victor laughed. "I would be surprised if you made friends before the weekend."
"For your information, I already made friends!" I showed my tong to him and showed my cellphone to him.
It was a few selfies that I took with the boys, all Ryan's idea to post on Instagram. The pic we took together were making traffic comments on my feed, people were saying things like "I ship it", "Who they know each other?! This is a squad goes!", "They all attend the same school like me" or "The new girl has a verified account and 4m followers on Instagram?!".
"Is it Cecilia Yunluo's son?!" Victor suddenly became interested. "The supermodel and former Miss Thailand?!"
"How do you know that?" I asked when he took my cellphone and started to scroll in the feed.
"I used to have a major crush on her when I was in high school." I do I have this weird brother.
"I don't want to hear about your crush on my mom's friend, it's weird!" I took my cellphone back. "And I have a plan to make Vincent popular. It includes telling people in his school that I'm his sister and buying him new clothes because I won't tell people that I have a brother who wears khaki."
"You're mean!" Vincent protested.
"And you love me!" I kissed his cheek just for him to whip it. "Daddy, can I go shopping?"
"Sure kiddo!" Dad gave me a bright smile and a credit card.
