"Okay class, now hush!" The middle-aged teacher said to the talking class. "I know is not common to have a new exchanged student at this time of year and much less during the second year of high school, but I hope you can welcome her." He gestured to me.
"My name is Victoria Koh and I hope we can take a long well," I said with a small bowl, some looked with surprised faces.
"Where you from, Kittie?" A blonde with blue eyes in the first row asked.
"The British accent probably confused you, but I'm quite certain that I said my name is Victoria, not Kittie." I rolled my eyes making the class laugh. "I'm worldwide but mainly from Singapore."
"Okay, Miss Koh will need someone to guide her. Any volunteer?" Half of the class raised their hands. "You, in the back." The teacher pointed to an almost sleeping boy. "Mister Choi you'll have a new seatmate and will be in charge to make her feel welcomed."
"Why me?!" The probably Korean boy protested.
"Is it because he's Asian?!" I could understand what was probably happing.
"She came from Singapore, she's probably sick of seeing Asians!" It wasn't true, but he wasn't wrong. "Or is social segregation because she looks rich?!"
"It's because both of you are assholes." A handsome boy with big eyes in the seat in front of Choi's laughed.
"Look who's talking." The Choi boy gave him a small smile.
"Miss Koh please..." The tired teacher begged.
I rolled my eyes and walked through the classroom. I could feel the people staring at me, but that was normal. I'm not that new to New York but I was new to this school.
"You're a feistiest one, I like you!" The big-eyed boy abruptly said when I reached my seat. "For a F.O.B your English is very good!"
"Don't judge her, you were a F.O.B yourself last year." Choi gave a half-assed smile.
"What's a F.O.B?" I asked confused.
"Oh, right you're a F.O.B so you don't know what it is," Big-eyed said.
"It stands for Fresh Off the Boat, basically means that you're an Asian Immigrant." The Korean said.
"But your English is very good, and you have a British accent so you're, obviously the rich type." Big-eyed make it sound as it was obvious. "By the way the name's Ryan, I'm from Thailand so I'll not waste time saying my family name to you!"
"Victoria Koh." I smiled shaking his hand.
"From Koh Constructions or Koh Tech?" Ryan asked interestedly.
"Guess I'm famous." I laughed. "Constructions, Koh Tech is from my uncle Julian."
"Great! This bitch here is Jason Choi." Ryan said, and he gave a small wave. "Welcome to Random High School."
We didn't extend the chat for much longer. The professor was teaching geography but almost no one was paying attention after that was AP math, which made half of the class disappear, and English classes. It didn't take long for the bell begin to be rung. Almost immediately some kids surrounded my desk making it hard for me to leave.
"I loved the way you bleached your hair!" A brunet white girl said referring to my blond hair.
"Want to have lunch with us?" A guy with blond hair and football jacked asked.
"Out, bitches! Give the F.O.B some space!" Ryan clapped his hands speaking in a loud way. "She's having lunch with us, right Jason?" He hugged our shoulders.
